Permanent Tissues

  • Permanent tissues of the plants are made up of differentiated and mature cells.
  • These calls have lost the capacity to divide. 
  • They attain a particular shape, size, and function.
  • The cells of the permanent tissue can be either dead or living and thick-walled or thin-walled.
  • The permanent tissues can be further classified as
  • Simple Tissues (Ground Tissue): These are made up of similar cells, so these are homogenous and the cells are structurally similar with varied functions. The ground tissues of the plant, like epidermal tissues, cortical tissues, etc. are made up of simple tissues.
  • Complex Tissues (Vascular Tissue): These are made up of a group of more than one type of cells working as a unit. These are vascular tissues involved in the conduction of water and photosynthates.
