The NEET correction window 2025 category change option is an important aspect for the NEET exam. Here are the key details regarding the correction of category and sub-category in the NEET 2025 correction window:
Any candidates who have selected the wrong category or sub-category in their initial NEET 2025 application form are allowed to make the change during the correction window. This is important for those who might have made an unintentional error in their application, as changing categories could potentially affect their chances of securing admission to a particular medical college.
During the correction window for NEET 2025, candidates are allowed to make the following changes:
Change in the primary category (e.g., from General to OBC or SC to ST).
Change in the sub-category selection, especially if the candidate belongs to a specific section
Modify other details like personal information, contact details, and educational qualifications.
Changing the NEET category can have a significant impact on the type of seat the candidate may be eligible for. For example:
A candidate who switches from the General category to OBC or SC may become eligible for reservations in government medical colleges in India.
A candidate applying in the EWS category who later realises they don’t meet the criteria may choose to change their NEET category back to the General category.
Similarly, candidates from economically weaker backgrounds may benefit from the EWS category, making this an important change to correct.
When changing the category or sub-category using the NEET correction window 2025, candidates are not required to upload any category or caste document. However, candidates must note that the required NEET caste certificate is required to be produced during the NEET UG counselling. Failing to do so will result in the disqualification of the candidate.
Candidates are not required to pay any additional fees for correcting their category and sub-category using the correction window for NEET 2025. The NEET 2025 category correction process is completely free.
