The PwD certificate for NEET provides certain important benefits to the candidates appearing for the NEET exam. The full form of PwD is Person with Disability. Candidates from PwD category are given the benefit of reservation in NEET UG exam. Persons who struggle to perform daily tasks due to a physical or mental health issue are categorised as PwD category. People with disabilities are granted reservation in NEET exam to ensure they have an equal opportunity to perform well.
To be eligible for PwD category in NEET UG exam, candidates must meet the PwD category eligibility set by the authority. A person with a disability is someone who has any kind of disability, whether it’s physical or mental, that limits the functioning of an individual. As per the PwBD act 2016, a candidate is provided with the PwBD certificate only if he/she has at least 40% disability.
As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) norms, a NEET UG PwBD certificate holder is given a reservation of 5% seats in each of general, general-EWS, OBC, SC,and ST category seats under horizontal reservation in undergraduate courses through NEET UG.
PwBD certificate holders are provided with the facility of a scribe in NEET 2026 exam.
The NEET PWD certificate holders are given a compensatory time of 1 hour in the entrance exam of 3 hours.

The candidate must have passed the 10 + 2 standard or its equivalent from a recognised board in India.
The candidate must have passed with an aggregate mark of 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together.

To obtain the NEET PwBD certificate, candidates must first qualify the disability criteria recognised by the National Medical Commission and Dental Council of India. The disabilities covered under this certification include blindness, low vision, locomotor disability, deafness, and intellectual disabilities.
