The National Medical Commission (NMC) is the responsible authority that recognises the medical colleges in India. The Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) on behalf of the NMC conducts surveys on various parameters and processes the applications for the upcoming medical colleges in India. As per the record of NMC, 112 applications have been received for the upcoming medical colleges in India.
The demand for medical seats, especially MBBS is on the rise, and with it, various new upcoming medical colleges in India are being established. NEET is the single largest medical entrance exam in India through which MBBS seats are granted. Around 24 lakh students registered for NEET 2024, out of which only around 1 lakh seats are available for MBBS. To counter this, various new upcoming medical colleges in India are on the rise.
