QnA related to NEET

Ask your question related to NEET

Hi student!

Yes, admission to MBBS, BDS, and most allied medical courses in India is strictly based on NEET marks. Your 12th grade marks are used only to check basic eligibility, not for merit ranking or seat allotment. To be eligible, you must have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English. For the general category, a minimum of 50% in PCB subjects is required, while for SC, ST, or OBC candidates, it is 40%. For General-PwD, it is 45%.

As for how many marks you need in NEET, that depends on the type of course and college you are targeting. If you want admission to a government medical college for MBBS, you usually need a NEET score of around 580 or more if you’re from the general category. For SC, ST, or OBC candidates, the score required is slightly lower and can fall in the range of 450 to 500, though it still varies by state and quota.

For MBBS in private medical colleges, a NEET score between 350 and 500 can be enough depending on the college, state, and whether you’re applying under management or state quota. Courses like BDS, BAMS, and BHMS usually have lower cutoffs. In some states, students with scores around 250 to 350 have secured seats in those programs, especially in private institutions.

So yes, NEET marks are mandatory for admission, and 12th marks only matter for eligibility.

Hope this helps!

Hello

Yes, you can still aim for MBBS with 250 marks! Focus your efforts on colleges like D.Y. Patil (Kolhapur/Pune), Datta Meghe (Wardha), or Raja Rajeswari (Bengaluru) under management quotas. Be sure to prepare financially and apply to several to maximize your chances.

Hello aspirant,

It is anticipated that the NEET 2026 syllabus would not change from the previous year.  As the initial stage in preparing for the test, candidates who intend to take the NEET 2026 must become familiar with the syllabus.  The NEET syllabus 2026 will be based on the NCERT and will be comparable to the senior secondary level curriculum for the chapters and themes in biology, chemistry, and physics. It will also be in accordance with Class 11 and Class 12.  Students can now conveniently prepare for their Board exams at the same time.

Thank you

With a NEET 2025 rank of 615015, getting admission to an MBBS program in deemed universities is extremely unlikely. Most deemed universities offering MBBS close their admissions for management quota seats around the 2 to 2.5 lakh rank mark, and sometimes even earlier for more reputed ones.

Your rank is far beyond the typical cutoff range for deemed colleges, even under the management quota. At this point, your realistic chances lie in exploring alternate courses such as BDS, BAMS, or paramedical programs where cutoffs tend to go lower.

If you are absolutely set on pursuing MBBS, you may want to consider reappearing for NEET or exploring MBBS programs abroad in countries like Russia, Georgia, or the Philippines, where NEET qualification is sufficient regardless of rank.

Hope this helps!

With a NEET 2025 rank of 1,06,210 and a score of 460 marks, you fall in a competitive but decent range. Whether you’ll get a medical seat depends on several factors like your category, state domicile, and whether you are applying under All India Quota (AIQ) or State Quota.

If you are from the General (UR) category, getting an MBBS seat in government colleges under AIQ is unlikely, as the cutoff usually closes around 17,000 to 25,000 rank. However, under your State Quota, you may have a chance in government colleges in low cutoff states like Rajasthan (for EWS/SC/ST), Chhattisgarh, or Odisha, depending on your category and reservation.

In private medical colleges, especially in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, or Maharashtra, your chances are much higher. Many private colleges take students with NEET scores in the range of 400–500 under management quota. If you’re comfortable with a higher annual fee (8–18 lakh per year), then you’ll likely get an MBBS seat in private colleges.

If you’re from a reserved category (OBC/SC/ST/EWS), your chances improve significantly in state quota seats.

With 460 marks, MBBS in a private college is realistic, and in government colleges it’s possible with reservation or in some states during later rounds. If you want help with a state-wise prediction or college shortlist, share your category and state.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

You have a reasonable probability of being selected for an MBBS seat in Madhya Pradesh if you receive 445 points in NEET 2025 and fall into the EWS category, particularly in the state quota. It is contingent upon a number of variables, including competition level, number of seats, and cut-off trends.

You can also monitor private or semi-government medical colleges in MP, where you may be able to secure a spot under the EWS quota with this score.

Recommendations:

  • Use the DMP MP official webpage to register for MP sate counselling.
  • Take part in every counselling session to increase your chances.
  • Explore other options like BDS, BAMS.

With an NEET 2025 All India rank of 180,934 and an SC category rank of 10,303, you are eligible for MBBS programs primarily in private medical colleges and possibly in some state quota government colleges across India.

For AIQ under the Al India Quota, general seats will not be available at your rank, but SC reserved seats in deemed and private institutions often fill up much later. Simultaneously, state governments allocate reserved seats under their state quotas, and many government colleges accept SC candidates with ranks in this range.

Your best strategy is to apply for both AIQ and your state quota. In AIQ, focus on private and deemed colleges that historically admit students with ranks similar to yours. In your state quota, aim for SC reserved seats in government colleges that have higher cutoff ranks. Keep your college and branch choices broad and flexible. Seats often open up in later rounds, so participate in every counselling phase.

Overall, your profile is well suited for private medical colleges and possibly government colleges under SC reservation. If you'd like, share your state of domicile and any preferred locations, and I can help build a shortlist of colleges with their expected cutoffs.

All the best!

Hello Riya,

Based on a NEET 2025 score of 198 from the General category, it is possible to get admission in Patanjali Ayurved University (BAMS courses or other Ayurveda courses) subject to the cutoff of the respective year, the course and whether seats are available. In the last couple of years, Patanjali Ayurved College (BAMS) had higher cutoffs from General candidates which usually went above 400. If you have the willingness to go on management quota or you are a domicile candidate from that state, unwillingly you could still get a chance although it is better to call college or stay update on their official counselling. Hello Aspirant,

Yes, you can get an admission for B. Sc Nursing through CUET if you do not take NEET. There are a lot of universities and colleges that will consider CUET scores for B. Sc Nursing admissions, especially central and state universities. Confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria such as completing 12th with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English. Verify if the individual universities have admission guidelines and acceptance and recognize CUET as the candidate ASIC (like JIPMER and PGIMER) and conduct their own entrance exam/ boards altogether separately and set out a list of those.

Hi student!

Yes, with a score of 252 in NEET and belonging to the SC category, you have qualified the exam. However, getting a seat in a government medical college for MBBS is quite difficult at this score, since SC category cutoffs for government colleges through both AIQ and state quota usually range much higher, often around 420 or above.

Still, you may have a chance in certain private medical colleges, especially those that offer government quota seats. Some states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra tend to have lower cutoffs for SC category candidates in the later rounds of counselling, including mop-up and stray vacancy rounds.

You can also explore private medical colleges where the cutoff is relatively low. While the fees are usually higher, some colleges do offer scholarships or financial aid to SC students. Additionally, you might consider BDS or allied health science courses, where the cutoff tends to be more flexible, and opportunities are still good.

It is recommended to participate in your state counselling as well as All India counselling, and regularly check cutoff trends and seat availability.

Hope this helps!
