    The allocation of seats in the Maharashtra state is divided into two categories. The 15% seats under All India Quota are granted through the NEET UG counselling and 85% are reserved under the State Quota which are granted through Maharashtra NEET counselling.     Maharashtra NEET UG eligibility and domicile requirements

    Candidates wishing to take Maharashtra MBBS admission must fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria of the state.

    • Nationality: Citizens of India, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), NRI and candidates residing outside the state are eligible for admission to the medical colleges in Maharashtra. OCI candidates can apply for government, cooperation, government-aided and private unaided colleges whereas NRI candidates can apply for only institutional quota i.e. 15% seats in private unaided colleges in Maharashtra.

    • Domicile: As per the NEET UG Maharashtra state domicile guidelines, candidates must be domiciled in Maharashtra or should have stayed in the state for a minimum of 10 years.

    • Age: Candidates must have attained 17 years of age.

    • Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed their class 12 from the school of Maharashtra and must have scored a minimum of 50% marks (for general category students) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

    • NEET cutoff: Candidates must have qualified for the NEET exam by achieving the minimum NEET cutoff marks.

    NEET UG Maharashtra state domicile criteria 2025

    The candidates wishing to get admission to specific states need to follow the NEET domicile rules. The authorities have outlined specific NEET UG Maharashtra domicile rules 2025 which are categorized into five distinct types. Check the eligibility for NEET UG Maharashtra domicile candidates below.

    Maharashtra state candidature type A:

    • Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed both their class 10 and class 12 from institutions located within Maharashtra.

    • Domicile proof: Candidates must have a Maharashtra domicile certificate for NEET UG issued by the Maharashtra state government (mentioning that the candidate has lived in the state for a period of 10 years) or a birth certificate mentioning the candidate was born in Maharashtra.

    Maharashtra state candidature type B:

    • Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed their class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra-based institutions.

    • Parental domicile: At least one parent of the candidate must possess a domicile certificate from Maharashtra.

    Maharashtra state candidature type C:

    • Educational qualification: Maharashtra NEET UG 2025 domicile eligibility states that the candidates should have passed their class 10 and class 12 in Maharashtra.

    • Parental employment: The type C domicile certificate rules for NEET UG in Maharashtra states that the candidate's mother or father should be employees of the Government of India or its undertakings, posted and reporting to duty in Maharashtra.

    Maharashtra state candidature type D:

    • Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed their class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra schools.

    • Parental employment: Candidates whose parent or parents are employees of the Maharashtra state government or its undertakings fall under this category.

    Maharashtra state candidature type E:

    • Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed their class 10 and 12 from recognized institutions situated in areas along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border.

    • Language and domicile requirements: The candidate's mother tongue should be Marathi and they must possess a domicile or birth certificate from the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area.

    Who qualifies for Maharashtra domicile in NEET UG?

    As per the NEET UG 2025 Maharashtra domicile criteria and guidelines, a candidate is considered domiciled in Maharashtra if they have completed their class 10 and 12 from recognized institutions in the state (Type A) or if at least one parent holds a Maharashtra domicile certificate (Type B). Additionally, candidates whose parents are employees of the Government of India or the Maharashtra State Government and are posted in Maharashtra (Types C and D) are also eligible. Those residing in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border areas with Marathi as their mother tongue (Type E) also qualify.
