NEET 2026 Counselling: Additional Documents Required For State Counselling

Manisha TiwariUpdated on 05 Aug 2026, 02:35 PM IST

NEET 2026 state counselling requires candidates to submit several documents to verify their eligibility, academic qualifications, domicile status, and reservation claims. While documents such as the NEET 2026 scorecard, admit card, confirmation page, and Class 10 and 12 certificates are common for both All India Quota (AIQ) and state counselling, many states ask candidates to produce additional certificates during the admission process. Additional documents include certificates related to domicile, study, medical fitness, income, or character. Some of the important additional documents that are required during NEET 2026 state counselling can be checked below.

Documents Required for NEET 2026 State Counselling

    1. Equivalence Certificate (Telangana)

Candidates applying for Telangana NEET 2026 counselling are required to submit an equivalence certificate if they have studied in Telangana but not under the CBSE or Telangana State Board. The certificate is used to establish that the candidate's qualifying examination is equivalent to the prescribed educational standards for admission.

    2. Medical Fitness/Health Certificate (Maharashtra)

For Maharashtra NEET counselling, candidates are generally required to submit a medical fitness certificate or health certificate. This document certifies that the candidate is medically fit to pursue the MBBS, BDS, or other medical courses.

    3. Study Certificate For Karnataka NEET Counselling

Candidates applying through Karnataka NEET 2026 counselling may need to produce a study certificate. This certificate is used to verify that the candidate has studied in Karnataka for the required number of years, making them eligible for admission under the state's eligibility criteria.

    4. Character Certificate

A character certificate is required during counselling in several states. The certificate is issued by the candidate's school or college and confirms good conduct. In many states, it should be issued within six months of the counselling or admission process.

    5. Income Certificate

An income certificate may be required by several states, particularly for candidates claiming benefits under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category or other income-based reservation categories. The certificate helps authorities verify eligibility for reservation or fee-related concessions.

    NEET 2026 State Counselling Process

The NEET 2026 state counselling process is conducted separately by the counselling authority of each state for admission to 85% state quota seats in government medical and dental colleges, as well as seats in private colleges, depending on the state's counselling policy. The NEET state counselling process is as follows:

    Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates must register on the official website of the respective state counselling authority by entering their NEET 2026 details and personal information. A counselling registration fee also has to be paid.

    Step 2: Uploading Documents

After registration, candidates need to upload scanned copies of the required documents, such as the NEET scorecard, admit card, Class 10 and 12 certificates, domicile certificate (if applicable), category certificate, and other state-specific documents.

    Step 3: Merit List Publication

Based on NEET 2026 scores and the state's eligibility criteria, the counselling authority publishes a state merit list. Only candidates included in the merit list are eligible to participate in the counselling rounds.

Step 4: Choice Filling and Locking

Candidates must select and arrange their preferred medical and dental colleges and courses in order of preference. Once all choices are entered, they should be locked before the deadline.

    Step 5: Seat Allotment

Seats are allotted based on the candidate's NEET rank, state merit rank, category, reservation policy, seat availability, and preferences filled during choice filling.

Step 6: Reporting to the Allotted College

Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to the allotted college within the specified time with all original documents and pay the admission fee to confirm their seat.
