Will NEET 2025 be Postponed? - Latest Updates Here

NTA announces the NEET exam date well in advance so that medical aspirants can prepare well in advance. The tentative date of NEET 2025 is May 4, however, no official statement has been made by the NTA in this regard. Also with the paper leak incidents in NEET 2024, the government is planning to make changes to the NEET UG exam. As per the media reports, NTA might conduct NEET 2025 in two phases. Talks are also going around the conduct of NEET 2025 in online mode. If all these changes happen, then NEET 2025 is likely to be postponed. Read the full article to know comprehensively about “Will NEET 2025 be postponed”?

Will NEET 2025 be postponed?

As of now, the NTA has not declared the official NEET UG exam date 2025. It is expected that the NEET UG 2025 exam date will be announced soon and if NTA agrees to the changes in NEET 2025 as suggested by the Radhakrishnan committee then there can be a postponement of NEET UG 2025.

NEET UG exam date 2025 postponed - Possible reasons

The NEET UG exam has been postponed in past due to various reasons. Some of the reasons why NEET UG 2025 is likely to be postponed are discussed below.

No announcement of NEET 2025 exam date by NTA

NEET 2025 exam date will be declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Generally, the NTA announces the NEET UG exam date well in advance, with registration opening months before the exam. The NEET 2025 schedule was likely to be announced in September 2024, but the authority has not announced any information on NEET UG 2025.

NEET 2025 in online mode

NEET 2024 was surrounded by paper leaks and disparity. To counter such incidents in future, speculations are going around that NEET 2025 might be conducted online. If this happens, then NTA has a huge challenge of conducting the NEET UG online due to the lack of infrastructure. To prepare for the online conduct of NEET 2025, NTA will have to prepare accordingly which can result in the postponement of NEET 2025.

NEET 2025 in two phases

To counter NEET paper leaks in future, if NTA conducts the NEET UG 2025 online, then the exam will be conducted in various shifts due to the increasing number of NEET aspirants every year. As per the media reports, NEET UG 2025 might be conducted in two phases. If this happens, NTA may take some time to strategise the online conduct of NEET 2025 in 2 phases, resulting in the postponement.

Will NEET exam pattern change for 2025?

It is expected that NEET exam pattern 2025 will be revised. But, there has been no official update on revised NEET paper pattern 2025. Any change if occur in NEET exam pattern for 2025 will be updated here.

NEET 2025 exam date postponed - Previous instances

Historically, NEET UG has been postponed only in exceptional circumstances. The most notable instance was in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic led to nationwide lockdowns and disruptions to education systems. As a result, NEET UG 2020 was initially scheduled for May but was later postponed until September 2020. Moreover, NTA conducted the NEET 2020 phase 2 special exam for the candidates who could not appear in the exam in September due to the pandemic.

Again in 2021, the NEET UG exam was postponed to September from the previous schedule of August. However, aside from this unprecedented situation, there have been no major instances of NEET UG being postponed due to other reasons. The exam is generally held on a fixed date once it has been announced, and students are expected to prepare accordingly.

Hello Anjali,

The admission process depends on the college and course. For medical-related programs like MBBS or BPT, NEET is required. Government colleges need high NEET scores (e.g., 550+ for general category), while private colleges may accept lower scores but have higher fees. Scholarships are available based on merit, category, or special exams.

Steps:

  1. Register on the college’s official site.
  2. Submit required documents (12th marksheet, NEET scorecard, etc.).
  3. Attend counseling if applicable and pay fees.

For specific details, provide the college name.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

Hello,

For NEET MDS , here's the clarification regarding your category:

  1. Central List of OBC :  Your caste appears under OBC, but this is based on the central government's classification.

  2. Kerala Government List : In Kerala's list, you fall under the OEC-SC category, which is specific to the state's classification.

  3. NEET MDS Application :

    • Since NEET is a central-level exam, the classification that matters is based on the central government’s policies.
    • If you are applying for the central quota, you should select the OBC category as per the central list, as the state’s OEC-SC classification may not apply for NEET MDS.
    • If applying for state quota in Kerala, refer to Kerala's guidelines, which may accept your OEC-SC status.
  4. Consult Kerala Authorities : It's advisable to confirm with the Kerala State authorities or the NEET MDS helpdesk to ensure accurate selection based on the state and central quota policies.

Hope it helps !
