How We Found These High-Weightage Topics

We started with five previous year NORCET papers: 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Together, they hold 446 memory based questions. We tagged it to one nursing subject, based on its content. Words like "labour," "partograph," and "eclampsia" point to OBG Nursing. Words like "hyponatremia," "ECG," and "chemotherapy" point to Medical-Surgical Nursing. We tagged questions this way across ten subjects.

About 28% of the questions did not tag cleanly to one subject. These were calculation-based, reasoning-based, or too general to place in one chapter. We kept this group separate and labelled it "Mixed / General," instead of forcing it into a subject where it didn't belong. This keeps the data honest.

Medical-Surgical Nursing had 99 tagged questions. Here is how they split by chapter.

Cardiovascular disorders is the single biggest chapter inside MSN. ECG changes, heart failure signs, and arrhythmias came up repeatedly. Endocrine and oncology tie for second. If your MSN revision time is short, start here.

OBG and Midwifery Nursing: High-Weightage Chapters

OBG had 50 tagged questions.

Antenatal care and labour and delivery carry equal weight. Both deserve equal study time. Postnatal care, including APGAR scoring and early newborn checks, is close behind.

Paediatric Nursing: High-Weightage Chapters

Paediatric Nursing had 40 tagged questions.

Neonatal care tops this subject. Vaccination is close behind, and it repeats every single year in our sample: BCG, DPT, MMR, and polio all came up more than once across the five papers.

Pharmacology: High-Weightage Chapters

Pharmacology had 42 tagged questions.

Drug classes and their actions form the biggest chunk. Know what each drug class does, not just its name. Antibiotics were the most repeated single term in this subject.

Fundamentals of Nursing: High-Weightage Chapters

Fundamentals had 25 tagged questions.

Nursing procedures dominate this subject. Suctioning, catheterisation, and enema technique all repeated across years. Suction was the single most-repeated word in this subject group.

Community Health Nursing: High-Weightage Topics

Community Health had 15 tagged questions.

Health team roles, ASHA, ANM, and primary health centres, made up most of this subject. WHO also came up often, tied to its role in health programmes.

Topics That Keep Repeating Across Years

A few specific topics appeared in more than one paper out of the five we checked. These are worth extra attention:
