The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has formed a three-member committee to examine complaints raised by foreign medical graduates who appeared for the FMGE June 2026 examination. The decision was taken after several students protested in New Delhi, alleging that the FMGE June 2026 exam was unusually difficult and that several examination centres lacked basic facilities.

Candidates have also demanded greater transparency in the result evaluation process after the FMGE June 2026 result recorded one of the lowest pass percentages in recent years at 12.77%. The committee will review complaints related to the examination, including the difficulty level, exam centre conditions and reports submitted by the test conducting agency.

FMGE June 2026 Protest: Why Are Candidates Protesting?

The protest was held on July 10 outside the NBEMS office and at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. It was organised by the All India Medical Students' Association - Foreign Medical Students Wing (AIMSA-FMSW) and the Association of Foreign Medical Graduates (AFA). During the protest, candidates raised the following concerns:

    • Higher exam difficulty: Candidates alleged that the FMGE June 2026 question paper was much more difficult than previous sessions.

    • Poor exam centre facilities: Several students claimed that many FMGE examination centres lacked basic infrastructure and facilities.

    • Transparency concerns: Candidates questioned the transparency of the examination and evaluation process after the June 2026 FMGE result recorded a pass percentage of 12.77%, one of the lowest in recent years.

    • Independent review: The protesting candidates demanded that NBEMS conduct an independent review of the FMGE June 2026 examination and its evaluation process.

NBEMS Forms Three-Member Committee to Review FMGE June 2026 Issues

After holding discussions with representatives of the protesting associations, NBEMS agreed to form a three-member committee to look into the issues raised by FMGE June 2026 candidates. The committee is expected to examine the following:

    • Candidate complaints: Review the grievances submitted by candidates regarding the FMGE June 2026 examination.

    • Exam difficulty: Assess claims that the June 2026 FMGE paper was significantly more difficult than previous sessions.

    • Exam centre reports: Examine reports received from various FMGE exam centres to identify any issues during the test.

    • Representations from candidates: Consider the requests and concerns submitted by candidates and student associations.

    • Overall conduct of the exam: Review the overall examination process to determine whether any irregularities or operational issues occurred during the FMGE June 2026 exam date.

NBEMS to Review CCTV Footage and Coordinate With TCS

Apart from forming the review committee, NBEMS has decided to coordinate with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the technology partner involved in conducting the examination. The board will reportedly:

    • Review CCTV footage from examination centres.

    • Examine reports submitted by test centres.

    • Verify complaints received from candidates.

    • Identify any operational issues during the examination.

    • Take corrective measures to prevent similar problems in future FMGE sessions.

FMGE June 2026 Most Difficult Session Ever?

One of the biggest concerns raised by candidates was the difficulty level of the FMGE June 2026 examination. Many students claimed that the question paper was much tougher than those of previous FMGE sessions. Some candidates even alleged that the exam was more difficult than postgraduate entrance exams such as NEET PG and INI-CET.

According to the Association of Foreign Medical Graduates (AFA), the FMGE is meant to be a screening test that checks whether foreign medical graduates have the minimum knowledge and skills required to practise medicine in India. The association said the exam should remain a qualifying test and not become so difficult that it turns into a highly competitive entrance examination.

FMGE June 2026 Exam Centres: Candidates Report Poor Facilities

Apart from the difficulty level of the paper, many candidates also complained about poor facilities at some FMGE June 2026 examination centres. Students who appeared at a centre in Noida alleged that the examination halls had poor ventilation and cooling and candidates had to give exam in an excessive heat of over 40°C. Several candidates reported feeling dizzy, nauseous and exhausted during the eight-hour exam, claiming that these conditions affected their overall performance.

FMGE June 2026 Exam: What Happens Next?

NBEMS has assured candidates that all complaints related to the FMGE June 2026 examination will be reviewed by the newly formed three-member committee. As part of the review, the board will examine CCTV footage, reports from examination centres and inputs from TCS, the exam's technology partner. However, NBEMS is not going to make any changes to the FMGE June 2026 result.

Will There Be Any Impact on the Next FMGE Session?

The committee's findings could help NBEMS improve future FMGE examinations. Based on the complaints received, the board may take steps to improve facilities at FMGE examination centres, ensure better arrangements for candidates and strengthen the overall examination process.

Although NBEMS has made it clear that the FMGE June 2026 result will not be changed, the committee's recommendations may help make upcoming FMGE sessions smoother and more transparent for candidates.
