The NEET exam serves as the gateway to get into MBBS and other medical courses in India. The exam offers reservation benefits to various categories including Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). A horizontal reservation of 5% is offered in the NEET admissions. However, NEET 2025 admission process has introduced stricter guidelines for PwD candidates to ensure fair seat allotment.

As per the reservation policy in NEET 2025 for PwD candidates, 5% reservation is applicable in each category for 15% AIQ seats as well as 85% state quota seats. To avail this reservation benefit, a candidate must be classified as having 40% disability as defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016. Candidates claiming for NEET 2025 PwD reservation must fulfill the below mentioned criteria to get admission into medical colleges in India. These eligibility criteria are:
Candidates must fulfill the basic NEET eligibility criteria.
Candidates must have appeared and qualified in the NEET exam.
Aspirants must possess minimum 40% disability as mentioned in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.

The authority has made a significant change for MBBS admission 2025 for PwD candidates. As per the guidelines, candidates will have to avail the PwD certificate for NEET 2025 from the MCC designated centres only. The authority has released a list of 16 MCC authorized centres who will issue the PwD certificate to the candidates. The NEET 2025 PwD certificate from these centres will only be taken into consideration for AIQ seat allotment.
Candidates claiming for PwBD certificate will have to visit the MCC designated disability centre with the below mentioned documents:
NEET 2025 result (to indicate the eligibility for MBBS course)
A valid Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID card- Yellow or above) issued by DEPwD (excluding visual disabilities)
Self-certification form in the NMC’s prescribed format
Affidavits, specific to the candidate’s disability category
The centre will issue the PwD certificate based on the documents submitted by the candidates and assessment of the Board.
For disabilities other than those mentioned by the authority, candidates will have to submit a UDID card and the self-certified affidavit under the ‘Others’ category.
Candidates who obtain a Disability certificate from the centre will be eligible to apply for PwD reservation in NEET 2025 admissions.
The disability certificate will be valid for NEET 2025 admissions only.
Candidates wishing to apply under 85% state quota seats will have to visit the state designated centres to obtain a disability certificate.

NEET 2025 PwD admission process for MBBS course can be understood from the steps mentioned below.
PwD candidates must have appeared and qualified for the NEET UG 2025 exam. Such candidates must have applied under PwD category during the NEET 2025 registration.
Qualified candidates claiming for PwD reservation in NEET 2025 must visit an MCC designated centre to undergo the assessment and obtain a PwD certificate.
Candidates wishing to get admission under 15% All India Quota seats must apply for the NEET counselling at the MCC’s portal. Candidates must upload the PwD certificate while registering for the NEET UG counselling 2025.
Once registration is done, candidates can fill in their preferences for medical colleges. Seat are granted based on the NEET rank, reservation criteria and preferences filled.
Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to the college within the stipulated time. Candidates must carry original documents including PwD certificate for verification. Candidates must pay the admission fee to lock the allotted seat.
