Ques 1. A question was asked on Brown-Séquard syndrome. What neurological pattern is associated with Brown-Séquard syndrome?
Answer: Ipsilateral motor weakness and loss of proprioception/vibration with contralateral loss of pain and temperature below the lesion.
Explanation: Brown-Séquard syndrome results from hemisection of the spinal cord. The corticospinal and dorsal column deficits occur ipsilaterally, while spinothalamic sensory loss occurs contralaterally.
Recall note: Candidates reported that Brown-Séquard syndrome appeared twice in the paper. The exact stems and options differed in candidate recollections.
Ques 2. A patient with acromegaly was given a drug that acts as a growth hormone receptor antagonist. Identify the drug.
Answer: Pegvisomant
Explanation: Pegvisomant is a growth hormone receptor antagonist used in the treatment of acromegaly. It reduces IGF-1 production by blocking GH action at the receptor.
Candidates specifically recalled a pegvisomant question after the examination.
Ques 3. A question involved calculation of attributable risk.
Answer: The numerical answer depends on the values provided in the original question.
Explanation: Attributable risk is calculated as:
Attributable risk = Incidence in exposed − Incidence in unexposed
Recall note: Candidates reported numerical values including approximately 0.9/0.95, but the complete original data and options were not consistently recalled. Therefore, the numerical answer should be verified before publication as a definitive answer.
Surgery
Ques 4. A rapidly growing breast mass that had recently increased substantially in size was reported in the examination. What was the likely diagnosis?
Answer: Phyllodes tumour
Explanation: Phyllodes tumours are fibroepithelial breast tumours that can present as rapidly growing breast masses. The rapid increase in size was a key clue reported by candidates.
Candidates specifically recalled the phyllodes tumour question and described the clinical clues as strongly suggestive of the diagnosis.
Ques 5. A question was asked on the Terry-Thomas sign. What condition is it associated with?
Answer: Scapholunate instability
Explanation: The Terry-Thomas sign refers to widening of the scapholunate interval on wrist imaging and is associated with scapholunate ligament injury or instability.
Candidates recalled this question in the orthopaedic section.
Ques 6. An image-based question involved a diathermy/electrosurgical circuit. What type of cautery was represented?
Answer: Monopolar electrosurgery was the answer reported by several candidates.
Explanation: In a monopolar electrosurgical system, current travels from the active electrode through the patient's body to a return/grounding electrode.
Recall note: This was an image-based recall, so the exact diagram and options should be checked before treating the answer as definitive.
Orthopaedics
Ques 7. What is the preferred imaging modality for osteoid osteoma?
Answer: CT scan
Explanation: CT is highly sensitive for identifying the small nidus of an osteoid osteoma and is particularly useful when plain radiographs are inconclusive.

Answer: X-ray
Explanation: Weight-bearing radiographs are commonly used for assessment of Lisfranc injuries, although CT can provide additional information about complex injuries.

Pharmacology
Ques 9. Which drug is a beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist used in the management of overactive bladder?
