Pursue MD/MS in USA

PGIMER Previous Year Question Papers PDF Download: The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, does not run one single entrance test. A student who wants a B.Sc Paramedical or Bachelor of Public Health seat writes the PGIMER Paramedical entrance exam. A nursing aspirant writes a different test with its own pattern. And a doctor who wants an MD or MS seat at PGI Chandigarh writes INI CET, not a PGIMER paper at all. Pick the wrong paper, and you end up practising the wrong pattern.

This guide sorts that out in plain steps. You will see which exam leads to which course, whether PGIMER releases old question papers, what a PGIMER paper looks like, and where you can find reliable practice papers for paramedical, B.Sc Nursing and MD/MS. We have also added a section for our free PGIMER Paramedical previous year question paper PDF, which comes with an answer key and step-by-step solutions.
PGIMER offers many courses, but only some of them are filled through a test that PGIMER itself conducts. Start with the table below. It shows which exam leads to which course and what you should practise with.
Course | Entrance exam | What to practise with |
B.Sc Paramedical and Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) | PGIMER Paramedical Entrance Exam | Paramedical PYQ PDF (see the download section below) |
B.Sc Nursing (4-year) and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing | PGIMER nursing entrance test | Memory-based papers and the syllabus in the official brochure |
MD and MS (INI SS for DM and M.Ch) | INI CET | INI CET question papers |
M.Sc, M.Sc (MLT) and Fellowships | PGIMER's own computer-based test | Official brochure, syllabus and subject-wise MCQs |
Why does this matter? Because the pattern changes from exam to exam. A paramedical paper is built on Class 11 and 12 science, plus English and general knowledge. An INI CET paper tests the MBBS course. If you practise from the wrong one, you waste time you cannot get back.

Not for its own admission tests. For the paramedical test, PGIMER follows a policy of not giving the question paper or the answer key to candidates after the exam. Every PGIMER "previous year paper" you find online is built from memory. Students come out of the exam hall, write down what they remember, and coaching teams or education sites turn those notes into a paper. These papers are still useful. They show you the type of questions, the difficulty level and the topics that keep coming back. But a recalled question can miss an option, and a recalled answer can be wrong.
Keep three simple rules in mind:
Treat every PGIMER paper as practice material, not as the official paper.
If an answer looks doubtful, check it against your NCERT textbook before you trust it.
Be careful with sites that call their files "official PGIMER papers". PGIMER does not publish papers, so that label cannot be correct.
If you are preparing for B.Sc Paramedical or BPH, start here. Careers360 has a free PDF made for this exam. It gives you previous year questions, an answer key and step-by-step solutions in an exam-style format. So, you can practise the way you will write the real paper.

Since PGIMER does not release its papers, no PYQ file for this exam, ours included, is an official PGIMER document. Use it to learn the pattern, check your speed and find your weak chapters. Do not use it to guess the exact questions of next year's paper.
Before you solve any paper, know the frame it sits in. The PGIMER paramedical test is a computer-based test with 100 multiple-choice questions to be done in 90 minutes. That works out to about 54 seconds a question, so speed matters almost as much as knowledge. Each correct answer carries one mark, which makes the total 100. The 2026 test was held on 31 July 2026.
Particulars | Details |
Conducting body | PGIMER, Chandigarh |
Mode | Computer-based test (CBT) |
Number of questions | 100 MCQs |
Duration | 90 minutes |
Total marks | 100 |
Level of questions | Class 11 and 12 |
For candidates with Class 12 science, the 100 questions are split as shown below, as per the syllabus Careers360 lists.
Subject | Number of questions |
Chemistry | 25 |
Physics | 25 |
Biology or Maths | 25 |
General English | 15 |
General Knowledge / Current Affairs | 10 |
Look at the last two rows. English and general knowledge together carry 25 of the 100 marks. Many students ignore them until the final week, which is a mistake, because these are some of the quickest marks in the paper.
Candidates from the vocational stream, sponsored or DMLT candidates, and those applying for Medical Animation get differently named 25-question blocks, such as Anatomy and Physiology or Lab Techniques. Check the course-wise breakup in the PGIMER Paramedical syllabus in the official brochure. Recent brochures also list separate shifts for different course groups, so confirm which paper you will sit.
Nursing aspirants face the same problem: there are no official papers to download. The PGIMER B.Sc Nursing entrance exam is also a computer-based test. It has 100 MCQs in 90 minutes, and the 2026 test was held on 24 July 2026.
So what can you practise with? Careers360 has a memory-based PGIMER Nursing 2026 question paper with solutions, rebuilt from what candidates remembered after the exam. Pair it with the PGIMER B.Sc Nursing syllabus so you know which topics to cover. Post Basic candidates should note that their paper is expected to lean on nursing subjects at GNM level, not on Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
If a site offers year-wise "PGIMER B.Sc Nursing PDFs" going back a decade, ask where those papers came from. PGIMER does not publish them, so they can only be recalled papers or practice sets.
You may have searched for a pgi chandigarh previous year question paper because you want an MD or MS seat. In that case, the paper you need is INI CET. PGIMER fills MD and MS seats through INI CET, the combined test for institutes of national importance, and super-speciality seats through INI SS.
INI CET has 200 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 3 hours. Your preparation should follow that pattern, not a PGIMER-style paper. Careers360 keeps solved papers here:

Downloading a paper is the easy part. Marks come from how you use it.
Pick the paper for your own course. A BPH aspirant gains little from a nursing paper.
Do a first pass without a timer. Read each question, mark the ones you find hard, and check the answers against NCERT.
Then sit it like the real exam. Give yourself 100 questions in 90 minutes. If you can, do it on a computer screen, because the real test is computer-based.
Keep a mistake log. Write the chapter, the reason you missed it (concept gap, memory slip or careless error), and the fix.
Repeat after revision. Solve a new set only when the old mistakes are fixed.
Watch out for a few common mistakes. Some students read only the solutions and never attempt the paper first. Others skip English and general knowledge, even though they carry 25 marks in the paramedical paper. And some treat one memory-based paper as a forecast of the next exam. For a sense of recent topics, check PGIMER Paramedical entrance exam question paper 2026.
