The FMGE country-wise pass percentage highlights clear variations in performance among foreign medical graduates from different countries. For example, countries such as Australia, Grenada, Turkey, Latvia, and Zambia recorded a 100% pass rate, reflecting strong academic standards and effective preparation. On the other hand, candidates from Poland (66.67%), Mauritius (50.55%), Iran (47.42%), and Barbados (42.86%) showed comparatively better results than the overall average.
What is shocking is that several countries recorded a 0% FMGE pass percentage, showing how difficult the FMGE exam is and highlighting a serious lack of exam-focused preparation among many foreign medical graduates. Despite being popular MBBS destinations for Indian students, countries like China (9.09%), Russia (19.43%), Kazakhstan (13.03%), and the Philippines (14.39%) continued to record low FMGE success rates, raising concerns about curriculum alignment and exam-oriented training.
As per the experts, the FMGE pass percentage remains low mainly because the exam tests not just memory, but strong clinical understanding and application-based knowledge. Many Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) study in countries where the curriculum, teaching methods, and clinical exposure are very different from the Indian medical education system. As a result, students often struggle with Indian exam patterns, standard treatment guidelines, and high-weightage subjects.
Limited internship exposure, language barriers, and a lack of proper FMGE focused preparation also add to the challenge. Moreover, the FMGE exam difficulty level is high, with a strict 50% qualifying criteria. Without structured revision, mock tests, and concept clarity, clearing the FMGE becomes tough, directly impacting the overall FMGE pass percentage each year.
