Hello,
If you're planning to take admission in NEET PG 2024 in Maharashtra and you belong to the General category, then it’s important to understand how the cutoff, seat availability, and fee structure work. This year, the qualifying cutoff for General category was around 290 to 300 marks out of 800. But honestly, just qualifying isn’t enough to get into a good government or semi-government college, you should aim for at least 300+ or even higher, especially if you’re looking at clinical branches like Medicine, Radiology, or Dermatology.
In Maharashtra, PG medical seats are 50% under the All India Quota (AIQ) and the other 50% are through State Quota, which is handled by Maharashtra CET Cell. Along with these, private and deemed universities also offer PG seats under management and NRI quotas. Maharashtra has a good number of PG seats but because government colleges offer better exposure and lower fees, the competition is really high. The fees in government colleges are very affordable, usually under 1 lakh per year. But private and deemed colleges can be expensive, with fees going up to 15–45 lakhs per year depending on the branch and college. Clinical branches, especially in private colleges, cost more and their cutoffs are also higher.

All the best for your admission!
Hello,
If you’re curious about the number of MBBS students from KIMS Bhubaneswar who enter government medical colleges for MS/MD/DNB via NEET PG, the precise figure isn't officially disclosed. Nonetheless, according to trends and student insights, it’s reasonable to conclude that many KIMS graduates successfully obtain PG placements in government colleges annually.
KIMS enjoys a good reputation, and students receive quality academic instruction and clinical exposure, aiding in NEET PG preparation. Numerous students have successfully obtained placements in government colleges for MD/MS, particularly in the final rounds of counselling when the cut-offs are a bit more lenient.
Although it's recognized as a university, the education you get at KIMS can certainly assist you in passing NEET PG and vying for a government position, particularly if you maintain consistency and focus. If you are studying there now or are intending to enroll, be confident that with commitment, your likelihood of securing a government PG seat is highly achievable.
Hope this helps. All the best!
Hello,
Kudos on achieving an outstanding AIR 817 in NEET 2025! That’s an impressive accomplishment. In response to your question, if you enroll in AIIMS Bibinagar, you will be regarded as a central institute student rather than a Telangana state quota student, as AIIMS operates as an autonomous body under the central government. In Telangana, for NEET PG counselling, the local candidate status for government quota PG seats is based on where you studied MBBS and your residency/domicile status according to the regulations set by the Telangana state counselling authority (KNRUHS).
Typically, to qualify as a local for NEET PG under the Telangana quota, you must have completed your MBBS at a college associated with KNRUHS or Dr. NTRUHS, such as Gandhi Medical College.
Therefore, if you enroll at AIIMS Bibinagar, you might not qualify for the local quota of NEET PG in Telangana, since it is not affiliated with KNRUHS. You will, nonetheless, become qualified for the AIIMS internal quota in INICET for PG programs in all AIIMS institutions, which is an important benefit. If maintaining local quota eligibility in NEET PG Telangana is your goal, Gandhi Medical College would be a more secure option. However, if you consider INICET and central counselling alternatives, AIIMS Bibinagar provides a respected and well-equipped setting.
Hope this helps. All the best!
To discontinue your current DNB course in a private college and potentially pursue another course after writing NEET PG again, follow these steps:
Step 1: Check Your College's Policies
Review your college's rules and regulations regarding course discontinuation, including any potential penalties or fees associated with withdrawal. Contact your college administration or academic advisor for specific guidance.
Step 2: Understand the Implications
Consider the implications of discontinuing your course, such as:
- Financial implications: You may lose your fees or have to pay a penalty for withdrawing from the course.
- Academic implications: Discontinuing your course may impact your future academic prospects or eligibility for other courses.
Step 3: Document Verification
If you decide to discontinue, ensure you obtain necessary documents from your college, such as:
- Transfer certificate: Required for admission to another college.
- Mark sheets: Necessary for future academic pursuits.
- No objection certificate: May be required by your current college for you to join another institution.
Step 4: NEET PG Registration
If you wish to pursue another course, register for NEET PG again and follow the necessary procedures. Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for the new course.
Key Considerations
- DNB course duration: Typically 3 years, and discontinuing may impact your future prospects.
- Course fees: Varying fees for different private colleges, ranging from 1.05 lakh to 28.10 lakh.
- Eligibility criteria: Ensure you meet the requirements for the new course, including qualifying NEET PG scores.
Hello,

These projections are based on cutoffs from prior years and could change based on variables like exam difficulty and seat availability.
