Why is One Question Dropped from Re NEET 2026?

The dropped question in Re NEET 2026 is from the Physics section. The question is as follows -

“One main scale division of a Vernier calliper is equal to 1 mm and the number of divisions on the Vernier scale is 10. When both the jaws touch each other, the Vernier scale shifts to the left of zero of the main scale in such a way that 4th Vernier division coincides with a division of the main scale. If this Vernier calliper measures the length of a wire to be 1 cm, the actual length of the wire is:”

For this, the given options in the Re NEET 2026 question paper are - 0.60 cm, 0.96 cm, 1.00 cm, and 1.04 cm. The correct value obtained using the standard Vernier caliper calculation is 1.06 cm. However, this option was not provided in the question paper. Since none of the given options was correct, NTA dropped the question from the answer key and awarded four bonus marks to all candidates.

Impact of Dropped Question in Re NEET 2026 Result

The dropped question is not expected to significantly affect the Re NEET 2026 merit list because every candidate receives the same four bonus marks. While individual scores will increase by four marks, the relative ranking among candidates is expected to remain largely unchanged.
