Question: Heartiest congratulation Dr Ravi on securing an AIR 3 in INI CET 2025 January session. How do you feel about the result?
Answer: Thank you so much. I am surprised with the INI CET result for the January 2025 session.
Question: Dr Ravi, you always had a dream of studying medicine in Central Institute. Now that you have that opportunity in front of you, how does it feel?
Answer: Well, I already had secured an AIR 5 in the NEET PG examination, so I was not planning to take the INI CET exam. But the NEET PG counselling got delayed because of many reasons, so I decided to give it a try. I filled the INI CET application form on the last date. I prepared for the examination for around 6 to 7 days only. So, even I am surprised with the results.
Questions: How many questions did you attempt in the INI CET 2025 exam for the January session?
Answer: Out of 200 questions, I attempted 192 questions.
Question: When did you start preparing for the postgraduate examinations?
Answer: I started preparing for the postgraduate examinations from the third year of my MBBS journey. I prepared through Marrow Plan C. In the beginning I was not that serious. But when I was in my final years, I became serious and started preparing for postgraduate exams from Marrow videos. It was in my final year when I started practicing MCQs provided by Marrow as well.
Question: Dr Ravi, what differences do you find between solving MCQs during the third or fourth year of MBBS and solving them during your internship?
Answer: Well, during my internship I wouldn’t get so much time so I was selective in reading the whole explanation. Also, the hands-on training helped me to solve questions quickly.
Question: What kept you motivated to keep practicing MCQs while you were on internship?
Answer: My motivation was to clear the postgraduate entrance examination. For that I used to make comprehensions after solving the MCQs. Otherway, I used to solve the questions just after reading the topic so it used to fit in my mind.
Question: How did Dr Rakesh’s videos help you to prepare for medicine?
Answer: The way Dr Rakesh explains a topic is really helpful. The concept sinks in very well.
Question: When did you start appearing for Grand Tests? What was your frequency?
Answer: I gave my first GT in the first month of internship. I used to attempt one GT every 2 to 3 days however, the frequency was not fixed.
Question: Dr Ravi, at any point of time, did you notice that your GT scores were stagnated and if yes, how did you overcome that?
Answer: Yes, it happened. When I started giving GTs, I used to score around 138 and then I got stuck to 150. Whatever effort I put in, it was of no use. I was not getting what I am doing wrong. Then I realized that I am not preparing some of the subjects, just postponing their preparation such as Community Medicine. So, I started preparing for all the subjects and then was able to score good marks in GT by Marrow.
Question: What was your revision strategy 3 months before the examination?
Answer: I had a 20th notebook, which was a small notebook where I used to write all the important concepts. I revised that notebook at least 3 times before appearing for the INI CET exam.
Question: How did you utilize Marrow Pearls?
Answer: Marrow Pearls were very useful to me during my internship. When I used to be busy, I used to open the Marrow App and read those pearls. They proved to be life saving in my last minute preparation journey of INI CET.
Question: Any words of wisdom for the future aspirants, Dr Ravi?
Answer: Well, I would say that revision is what matters. No matter the subject you have studied in depth but if you have not revised it before the examination, it won’t help much. So, plan the revision strategy from day 1, and appear for the Grand Tests.

With a rank of 17500 in the INICET, securing an MD seat in Pathology (Path) or Microbiology (Micro) in top-tier institutions might be challenging, but it's not impossible, depending on the year's cutoff trends and seat availability. Here are some considerations:
Cutoff Trends : Examine the previous years' cutoffs for MD Pathology and Microbiology in institutions you are targeting. This will give you a realistic idea of your chances. Typically, these specializations have slightly higher cutoffs compared to more competitive fields like General Medicine or Surgery.
Institution Preferences : Lesser-known institutions or those in less sought-after locations might have lower cutoffs, increasing your chances of securing a seat. Be open to considering a wider range of colleges.
Counseling Participation : Actively participate in all rounds of counseling. Sometimes, seats become available in later rounds as other candidates shift their preferences.
Alternative Pathways : If you don't secure a seat in the first attempt, consider preparing for the next session of INICET or exploring other entrance exams like NEET PG, which might offer more opportunities.
Persistence and flexibility in your choices will improve your chances of securing a seat in your desired specialization.
hope this helps you!!
