NEET PG College Predictor
NEET PG All India & State College Predictor with Admission Process Guide
FMGE Revision Strategy 2026: An FMGE exam preparation strategy has one job. It must help you cover about 20 subjects more than once, in the clinical style the paper now uses. FMGE October 2026 is on 31 October, as confirmed by NBEMS. The paper has 300 questions, the pass mark is 150, and there is no negative marking. This article starts with what candidates actually struggle with. It then provides a revision plan around each problem. You get an 8-day plan for 31 October and a 30-day plan for the next session. Both use the official marks by subject, so your hours follow the marks.

According to Careers360's interview with the FMGE June 2025 (AIR 1), Career360 News reports candidate complaints about the June 2026 exam and post-exam candidate-feedback reviews. The same problems repeat across them.
Problem candidates report | Review |
Too many subjects, no revision method | Careers360 notes that nearly 20 subjects make planning hard, and incomplete planning leaves preparation unfinished. |
Old advice, over-reliance on past papers | The AIR 1 said many candidates follow advice from people who cleared FMGE years ago. He added that present questions are more clinical and that past papers should not be the only resource |
Clinical, multi-step questions | Graduates are unfamiliar with the clinical scenario in India. June 2026 reviews describe long clinical stems, video-supported questions and multi-step reasoning. |
Time pressure | Long stems leave little time for review. |
Exam-day stamina and conditions | Careers360 News reported candidate complaints of heat, non-working air conditioning and a nearly eight-hour day at some centres |
Vast syllabus | Syllabus is vast, and NBE recommends no books |
Repeat attempts | Health ministry figures reported by Careers360 News put the overall June 2026 pass rate at 12.78% and the freshers' pass rate above 35%. |
Some call the first part conceptual and lengthy. Others call the clinical part harder. Prepare for both.

Item | Detail |
Exam date | Saturday, 31 October 2026 (admit card expected 27 October) |
Questions | 300 MCQs in two parts of 150 |
Pass mark | 150 out of 300 |
Negative marking | None |
Sections | Each part has three timed sections of 50 questions and 50 minutes each, with no return after time ends |
Next session | January or February 2027 |
Fifty questions in 50 minutes is 60 seconds per question. The June 2026 pass rate matters for planning. Careers360 recorded a fall from 23.9% in January 2026 to 12.7% in June, as covered in its FMGE pass rate crash article. A revision plan has to assume a clinical, demanding paper.
Subjects do not carry equal marks. The official marks are reported on the FMGE subject-wise weightage page. By grouping them, we calculate the shares and hours ourselves. For an 8-hour study day, the last column splits your time in proportion to marks.
Tier | Subjects | Marks | Share | Hours in an 8-hour day |
1 | Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Community Medicine | 125 | 41.7% | 3.3 |
2 | Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT | 96 | 32.0% | 2.6 |
3 | Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine | 49 | 16.3% | 1.3 |
4 | Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiotherapy, Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, Radiodiagnosis | 30 | 10.0% | 0.8 |
Shift hours towards your weak subject, but keep every tier in the plan. For repeated topics inside subjects, see Careers360's most scoring topics of FMGE. It is a guide from past papers, not an official count.
Use one resource per subject. Do not add new books now.
Day | Focus | Practice |
1 | Medicine and its allied subjects (Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiotherapy) | 40 clinical MCQs |
2 | Surgery and its allied subjects (Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, Radiodiagnosis) | 40 clinical MCQs |
3 | Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Community Medicine | 40 MCQs |
4 | Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT | 40 MCQs |
5 | Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry | 40 MCQs |
6 | Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine | 40 MCQs |
7 | Full mock test, then analysis | Two parts, three 50-minute sections each |
8 | Error log only, light revision, documents and travel | No new topics |
Keep the day count flexible. If a tier takes longer, trim the notes you read, not the MCQs you solve.
Each study block should answer the problems above.
Read your notes for 60 to 90 minutes. Use one set of notes per subject.
Solve clinical MCQs for 45 minutes. Choose case-based items with long stems. This trains the reading speed that the June 2026 paper tested.
Review every wrong answer. Write why it was wrong in one line. Is it a fact gap, a reasoning gap or a misread?
Use past papers as a check. They show the style. They are not enough on their own.
Practise. Do 50 questions in 50 minutes, then rest.
Attempt every question in the exam. There is no negative marking.
Treat this as a 30-day template, and slide it to fit.
Week | Focus | Passes by tier |
1 | First revision of all tiers, with notes and clinical MCQs | Tier 1 and 2 first |
2 | Second revision, with the error log | Tier 1 twice, Tier 2 once more |
3 | Third pass on weak topics, one full mock | Tier 3 and 4 once more |
4 | Mocks and error review only | All tiers, quick pass |
Aim for the final mock in the last week. Then stop adding material.
Changing resources late. Every change costs revision time.
Studying only past papers. The paper is clinical, so practise case-based questions as well.
Skipping the five-mark subjects. Six of them hold 30 marks.
Ignoring stamina. Practise two full parts back to back.
Reading forums for hours before the exam. Use them for facts, not for fear.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Revise by marks. Give the most time to Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Community Medicine, which hold 125 of the 300 marks. Use one set of notes per subject, solve clinical MCQs daily, and keep the last day for your error log. Do not start new resources.
No. Past papers show the style, but questions are more clinically oriented. Candidates should not limit themselves to past papers. June 2026 reviews also describe long clinical stems and multi-step reasoning. Add case-based MCQs and timed mocks.
There is no official number. What matters is the format. Take mocks in two parts with three sections of 50 questions each, then review every error. In an 8-day window, one full mock on Day 7 is realistic.
