To be eligible for registration, candidates must meet the following INI CET eligibility criteria.
1. Educational Qualifications
Medical Courses (MD/MS/DM-6yrs/MCh-6yrs): For medical courses, the candidate must hold an MBBS degree from a university recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Dental Courses (MDS): For MDS course, candidate must hold a BDS degree recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
2. Mandatory Internship Completion
For the INI CET 2026 examination (July 2026 session), candidates must have completed their 1-year compulsory rotatory internship on or before July 31, 2026. Students completing their internship after this date are ineligible for this session.
3. Minimum Aggregate Marks
The total marks obtained in all professional MBBS/BDS examinations must meet the minimum aggregate marks. The category-wise minimum aggregate marks to be eligible for INI CET May 2026 examination is as follows:
General / OBC / EWS / Sponsored / Foreign National: Minimum 55% aggregate.
SC / ST Category: Minimum 50% aggregate.
PwBD Category: Minimum marks depending on the primary category (55% for Gen-PwBD, 50% for SC-PwBD).
Note: For Indian Nationals graduated from foreign universities, the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) marks are considered.
4. Medical Registration
The candidates must possess a valid registration certificate issued by the NMC or a State Medical Council (SMC).
The registration process of INI CET May 2026 is completely online. The step-wise process to register for INICET 2026 May exam is as follows -
Step 1: Basic Registration (One-Time Process)
If any candidate has already registered in the previous session of INI CET exam, they can skip this step and use their existing last sessions’ credentials to log in. For new candidates, the following steps need to be followed:
Go to the official AIIMS exams website and click on the "Academic Courses" tab
Select “INI CET July 2026 Session” and click on register button
Select the course you want to apply (MD/MS/MCh/DM/MDS) and click "New Basic Registration" to create an account using name, mobile number, and email ID
Upload scanned copies of the passport-size photograph, signature, and left thumb impression in the specified size and format.
Click on submit. A Registration ID and Password on the registered email and mobile number will be sent.
Step 2: Generation of Exam Unique Code (EUC)
Log in using the registration ID and password to enter the PAAR portal
Click on "Generate Exam Unique Code (EUC)" after the basic registration is marked as "Accepted"
Select the postgraduate course you are applying for to receive the unique session identifier
Step 3: Final Registration & Fee Payment
Re-login using the Registration ID, Password, and the newly generated EUC
Enter the MBBS/BDS professional marks, internship completion date, and medical registration number
Select the preferred INI CET 2026 examination city
Complete the fee payment online via credit card, debit card, or net banking. The INI CET May 2026 registration fee is Rs. 4,000 for General/OBC/Foreign National, Rs. 3,200 for SC/ST/EWS, whereas no fee is required for PwBD candidates.
After successful fee payment, download and print the registration slip of INI CET May 2026 registration. This slip is required during INI CET counselling

With a rank of 1375 in the INI CET November 2025 session under the general category, securing a seat in general surgery or orthopedics will be very difficult, but still you have chances in fields like MCh courses or related surgical fields in the counseling rounds.

Based on previous INI-CET trends , a UR rank around 25,686 usually does not get a Microbiology seat in AIIMS institutes.
In most years, Microbiology in AIIMS closes at a much better (lower) rank for the unreserved category. Only the very last round in some years has gone close

If your employer refuses sponsorship, you cannot apply for a sponsored seat in INI-CET or DNB. Sponsorship is given only by the parent organisation.
You can consider these options:
Apply in the general category (no sponsorship needed).
Take Extraordinary Leave (EOL) or leave without pay to do PG.
