NEET 2026 Chemistry Score = (Correct Answers × 4) - (Incorrect Answers × 1)

The NEET 2026 Chemistry section was considered moderately difficult by both students and experts. Compared to previous years, the paper was slightly tougher and focused more on understanding concepts rather than memorising facts. Although the questions were based on the NCERT syllabus, many of them required students to apply their knowledge and think logically.
In terms of sections, Inorganic Chemistry was relatively easier, with most questions coming directly from NCERT and focusing on basic facts and trends. Organic Chemistry was more challenging and time-consuming, as it included tricky questions based on reaction mechanisms and required deeper thinking. Physical Chemistry was of moderate difficulty, with numerical problems that tested students’ conceptual clarity rather than simple formula-based calculations.
The question paper had a balanced distribution of topics from both Class 11 and Class 12. Some chapters had higher weightage, such as Coordination Compounds, Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry (GOC), Hydrocarbons, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, and Solutions.
Another important change in NEET 2026 was the variety of question types. There were more Assertion-Reason and statement-based questions, which tested logical thinking. Match the column questions were also common and often combined multiple topics. Additionally, multi-statement questions made the paper more time-consuming, as students had to carefully evaluate each statement before answering.
