The Karnataka NEET cutoff varies depending on the availability of seats and number of students qualified. In 2025, Karnataka had 13,544 total medical seats, which increased to 15,395 seats in 2026, an increase of 1,851 seats. At the same time, the number of NEET-qualified students in Karnataka declined from 87,909 in 2025 to 69,170 in 2026, representing a decrease of 18,739 students.
The combination of more seats and fewer qualified students can significantly affect the counselling cutoff, particularly at colleges where demand is comparatively lower. With 1,851 additional seats available while the pool of qualified students has reduced by 18,739, the competition for the available seats can decrease.

The increase in medical seats combined with the decline in the number of NEET qualified students can provide greater opportunities for students seeking MBBS admission in Karnataka. This may benefit students in several ways:
More seats available: An additional 1,851 medical seats means more students can secure an MBBS seat.
Lower competition overall: With 18,739 fewer qualified students, the overall candidate pool competing for Karnataka's medical seats has become smaller.
Better chances at higher ranks: Students who may have missed out on a seat in previous years could have better opportunities in 2026, particularly at colleges with comparatively lower demand.
