As per the latest update, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to extend the deadline for completing internships to June 30, 2025. This BDS internship extension for NEET MDS 2025 comes after many students raised the issue of delay in internship schedules, and several dental groups got involved. With this new deadline, more BDS graduates will be eligible to fill NEET MDS registration from 2025 between April 3 to 6.
Every candidate must meet the NEET MDS 2025 eligibility requirements set by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Below are the NEET MDS 2025 eligibility criteria for the NEET MDS entrance exam -
To take the NEET MDS 2025 exam, candidates must be Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).
Candidates need to have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a university or institute in India, following the MDS course regulations established in 2017 by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Candidates must hold a provisional or permanent registration certificate from the DCI or State Dental Council (SDC).
Dental graduates must have completed a 12-month rotatory internship by June 30, 2025. Candidates need to understand that those currently doing their rotatory internship and are expected to finish it by June 30, 2025, are also eligible for the exam. However, they cannot enroll in MDS courses until they provide the internship certificate during the counseling process.
This NEET MDS 2025 internship extension can have the following impact -
With the extension of BDS internship completion deadline for NEET MDS 2025, students finishing their internships between April 1, 2025 and June 30, 2025, can now apply for NEET MDS 2025. This NEET MDS 2025 BDS internship extension opens the door for more candidates to be eligible for the NEET MDS 2025 exam and pursue higher education in dentistry.
With this extension, the NBEMS reopens the NEET MDS 2025 registration period for those who are now fulfilling the NEET MDS eligibility criteria. Candidates who missed the chance to apply earlier because of internship deadlines will now have the opportunity to register for the exam.
Although the exam date is still set for April 19, 2025, the new internship deadline means that some students might still be finishing their internships while getting ready for the exam. This could lead to a change in the exam schedule of NEET MDS 2025.
