The DME releases separate merit lists for different quotas and categories. The types of Tamil Nadu NEET 2026 rank lists are as follows:
1. Government Quota Rank List: For 85% of state quota seats in government medical and dental colleges, primarily for Tamil Nadu domicile candidates.
2. Management Quota Rank List: For seats in private medical and dental colleges, open to both domicile and non-domicile candidates.
3. 7.5% Government School Quota Rank List: A special reservation for students from Tamil Nadu government schools, applicable only to state government colleges.
4. NRI Quota Merit List: For Non-Resident Indian candidates applying to private colleges under the NRI quota.
In cases where two or more candidates score the same marks in NEET UG 2026, the DME applies the following tie-breaking criteria to prepare the rank list.
Higher Marks in Biology: Candidates with higher scores in the Biology section (including Botany and Zoology) are ranked higher.
Higher Marks in Chemistry: If the tie persists, candidates with better scores in Chemistry are given preference.
Higher Marks in Physics: If the tie still exists, the candidate with a higher score in Physics is ranked higher.
Fewer Incorrect Answers: Candidates with fewer incorrect responses in the NEET exam are placed at a higher rank.
