A total of 83 foreign medical institutes from where 50 or more students appeared in FMG examination registered a higher pass percentage than the overall FMGE pass percentage of 23.25% in 2022. The pass percentage at 87 colleges from where 50 or more students appeared in FMG examination was less than 23.25%.
Students who acquire a medical qualification from countries outside India need to clear the FMGE in order to practice modern medicine in India. The exam is conducted by the National Board for Examination (NBE) twice – in June and December – every year. FMGE December 2023 exam will be held in a computer-based test (CBT) mode on January 20, 2024.
According to a set of guidelines by the union health ministry for students interested in MBBS abroad, the FMGE is a licensure exam, which “aims to sift the charlatans from those who have acquired their medical degrees from another country, but are knowledgeable and skilled enough to bolster the country’s physician workforce”.
It is an exercise in transparency, with a well-defined curriculum that specifies the distribution and weightage of each subject, has no negative marking and no limit on the number of attempts. Over the years, there has been an increase in the number of Indian students going abroad to pursue medical education. In 2009, the number of students with medical degrees from institutions abroad appearing for FMGE was 6,170, which increased to 21,351 in 2018 – an over 240% increase.
Even though the number of students taking the FMGE has increased, the passing percentage has not crossed more than 25%. The FMGE pass percentage was highest in 2019 at 25.79%.

FMGE 2022 data shows that not a single student from 90 foreign medical colleges could clear the examination.
Russia’s North-Western State Medical University I.I. Mechnikov topped the list with a maximum of 77 students appearing for FMGE 2022 and none clearing it. Other colleges are Yichun University’s school of medicine in China with 31 students appearing and failing FMGE 2022 and China’s Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUSTTJ) with 29 students failing.
Out of 22 colleges having 100% passing percentage, two colleges had five students each sitting for FMG examination, two colleges had two students each, one college had three students and one more had 8 students. Rest of the 16 colleges had just one student each who appeared and cleared the FMGE.

Here are the steps to retrieve your lost NEET 2019 scorecard:
Check your Email: Look through your email inbox. Don't forget the spam and promotions folder. There must be an email from NTA mentioning regarding NEET 2019 result or scorecard.
Visit the NTA Website:
Go the official website of NTA.
Look for the section called "NEET".
Look if link is there for download scorecards of previous years. You may be required to provide your application number, birth date and security pin.
Contact NTA Helpdesk:
Send your complaint to the NTA helpdesk through their website or helpline number. Brief your problem clearly and ask for their aid to obtain your scorecard. Don't forget to remember to be able to offer all your NEET application number, your roll number and other details to them.
If you still cannot retrieve your scorecard by above options, then, you may make use of these alternatives:
Apply through RTI Application: You can apply for an RTI, i.e., a Right to Information application to NTA to get a copy of your scorecard. This, in any case, would be a time-consuming process, but somehow, could be useful.
Contact your coaching institute or college: They would probably have a copy of your scorecard or could help you get it from the NTA.
Don't lose hope and keep trying an attempt to get back your scorecard. Keep trying different ways and don't shy away from taking legal help from the concerned authorities.
If you have a discrepancy between your Date of Birth (DOB) on your medical degree and your NEET scorecard, you need to contact the National Board of Examinations (NBE) immediately to clarify the issue before applying for the FMGE exam in December 2024.as it might like to complicate your admission in future so its better to correct it first then apply to fmge.
Its a big thing DOB of a candidate proves age of any candidate and it is one of the qualification of students who are applying somewhere.
Hy,
Here are some steps you can take to retrieve your score card or obtain a duplicate:
Contact NTA Again : Since you've already contacted the NTA Helpdesk and sent emails, it might be worthwhile to reach out again. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible, such as:
Make sure you are using the official contact channels listed on the NTA website.
Check Online Resources : Visit the official NEET UG website or the NTA website to see if there are any options for downloading your score card directly. Sometimes, previous years' score cards may still be available for download, especially if the website has an archive feature.
Request a Reissue via Email : If your emails to NTA have not received responses, consider:
Use RTI (Right to Information) : If you still don’t get a response, you can file an RTI application to seek information regarding your score card. This method can sometimes prompt quicker action from government bodies like NTA.
Explore Alternative Documents : If obtaining the score card proves difficult, check if you can submit alternative documentation. Sometimes, other documents proving your NEET score (like admission letters or even official communications) can be considered. Check with the FMGE authorities to see what they accept as substitutes.
Contact Other Students or Forums : Sometimes, students who have faced similar issues can provide valuable advice. Online forums or student groups might have individuals who have successfully retrieved their score cards.
Seek Help from Authorities : If none of the above works, consider reaching out to the FMGE authority directly to explain your situation and ask for guidance on what to do if you cannot produce the score card.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and get the required documentation for your FMGE exam.
Hello Diksha,
Since you've already cleared FMGE and are working in India, obtaining a medical license in other countries depends on their specific requirements. Here are some options you can explore:
United States (USMLE)
: You can apply for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). It's a three-step exam. Once you pass, you'll need to complete a residency in the U.S. before being eligible for a medical license.
United Kingdom (PLAB)
: You can take the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test for practicing in the UK. Once you pass PLAB 1 and 2, and complete the required clinical experience, you can register with the General Medical Council (GMC).
Australia (AMC)
: For Australia, you can apply for the Australian Medical Council (AMC) exams. This involves an AMC CAT multiple-choice exam and a clinical exam.
Canada (MCCQE) : In Canada, you’ll need to pass the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE), followed by residency training through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS).
Research the specific pathways for each country as they may have additional requirements for foreign graduates, including internships or further training.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.
