In a major step towards maintaining the integrity of the Re NEET 2026 exam, the Government of India has announced a temporary restriction on Telegram in India ahead of the Re NEET 2026 examination. According to an official statement issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the action has been taken to prevent the spread of fraudulent paper leak claims of Re NEET 2026 question paper. The temporary Telegram ban will remain in effect until June 22, 2026, covering the day of the Re NEET 2026 exam and the immediate post-examination period.

As per the official statement announced by NTA in its twitter account, the government has issued directions restricting access to Telegram in India for a limited period till June 22, 2026.
In addition to the temporary restriction, Telegram has also been directed to disable the message-editing feature for previously posted messages in India until June 30, 2026. The move has been described as a preventive measure aimed at stopping the misuse of the platform by individuals and groups involved in examination-related fraud.
NTA stated that several Telegram channels and groups were allegedly being used to mislead students by claiming access to the Re NEET 2026 question paper. Although NTA has repeatedly assured students that there are no chances of paper leak this time and question paper will be available only on the exam day, several students have reported of possible scam.

According to the NTA, these channels are demanding money from candidates and their families in exchange for supposed access to examination papers of Re NEET 2026. NTA has clarified that no examination paper is available outside the official and secured examination process. The NTA has also stated that all claims of access to the Re NEET 2026 question paper are fraudulent.

One of the major concerns highlighted by NTA is related to the Telegram's message-editing feature. According to the statement, several telegram channel owners can edit previously posted messages while retaining the original timestamp. This feature can allegedly be misused to replace old files with examination papers after the exam has already been conducted. Such edited messages can then be circulated as false evidence of a paper leak.
To address this issue, authorities have directed Telegram to disable editing of existing messages in India until June 30, 2026.
NTA has confirmed that there is no change in the Re NEET 2026 exam date. The Re NEET UG 2026 exam will be conducted on June 21, 2026, as scheduled. The agency stated that the security of the examination has not been affected and that the measures taken against Telegram are only to strengthen the examination process.
NTA has also urged students, parents and the public to report any claims related to leaked Re NEET UG 2026 question papers or answer keys. The agency has stated that no individual, website, social media account or messaging channel has access to the exam paper before the test.
Candidates have also been warned against people offering leaked papers, guaranteed scores or admissions in exchange for money. NTA said it is working with the PIB Fact Check Unit and law-enforcement agencies to restrict misinformation and advised students to rely only on official updates.
