In the NEET UG exam, a total of 180 multiple choice questions are asked which are of class 11 and 12 level. Each question has four answer options, out of which candidates must select the correct one. Medical aspirants have to answer the questions in 3 hours. The exam is conducted in offline mode using pen and paper. The NEET question paper includes questions from the following subjects.

The questions in the NEET exam are asked from class 11 and 12 syllabus. Most of the questions in the NEET exam are based on NCERT textbooks. The NEET Physics and Chemistry section contains 45 questions each. The Biology section in NEET carries the highest weightage, with 90 questions asked from Botany and Zoology. In the NEET Biology, many questions are directly asked from NCERT diagrams, statements and concepts from class 11 and 12 chapters. Candidates who prepare the NCERT class 11 and 12 syllabus thoroughly can score well in the NEET 2026 exam.

To attempt maximum questions from the total number of questions asked in the NEET exam, candidates must apply a smart strategy. As 180 questions need to be answered in NEET within a limited time, candidates should follow a planned strategy during the examination which is mentioned below.
Start with the subject that you have mastered and find it easy. Although it is advised to start with the Biology section as it has 90 questions.
Do not spend too much time on one question.

During NEET UG registration , candidates must enter the PCB aggregate percentage (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and not the “Best of 5” percentage.
In your case, entering 90.8% instead of 89.2% is likely a calculation mistake rather than an eligibility issue, since both are above the required cutoff
