    Lowest cutoff medical colleges in India admission criteria

    The admission criteria for government medical colleges with lowest cut off generally include students fulfilling the eligibility criteria, passing the entrance exam, and appearing for the online counselling process. A brief overview of the admission process in medical colleges in India with the lowest cut-off scores is as follows -

    1. NEET eligibility criteria

    Admission to MBBS courses is only granted through the NEET UG exam, hence fulfilling the NEET eligibility criteria is mandatory. The eligibility criteria for NEET UG exam are as follows -

    • Age limit: The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the year of admission.

    • Educational qualifications: The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects with a minimum mark of 50% in these subjects (40% for SC/ST/OBC categories)

    • Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen, an Overseas citizen of India (OCI), or a Non-Resident Indian (NRI).

    2. Appearing for NEET UG exam

    Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria need to appear for the NEET UG exam. The NTA conducts the NEET UG exam annually for admission to MBBS courses in India.

    3. Qualifying NEET cut off scores

    Candidates need to secure the minimum qualifying NEET cut off marks to be eligible for the counselling process. The NTA releases the cut off marks for NEET UG exam along with the NEET result.

    4. NEET counselling process

    After the NEET results are declared, the NEET UG counselling process is conducted at the national level (for AIQ seats) and by the state medical authorities (for state quota seats). Candidates need to register, fill in their preferences for medical colleges, and attend rounds of counselling based on their rank and preferences.
