The NEET UG 2026 exam, held on May 3, has sparked major controversy due to allegations of paper leaks widely spreading across the internet and in newspapers, becoming a major topic of discussion among student communities. Reports of the NEET UG 2026 paper leak and the matching guess paper distributed before the exam have provoked outrage among candidates and their families, raising questions about the integrity and transparency of the entire medical entrance exam process.

In the context of the NEET 2026 controversy, the NEET 2026 exam has been cancelled by the NTA, and Re-NEET 2026 will be conducted for all the affected aspirants.

As per the official news published in the newspaper, the paper leaked in Sikar, a city in Rajasthan known as a major educational hub like Kota. The exam leak is related to a guess paper that was circulated in Sikar before the exam, and most of the questions in the guess paper are exactly the same as the questions in the actual exam. After this scam, the investigation is being actively carried out by the Rajasthan police and NTA (National Testing Agency).

Another official news from India Today showcases a probe against the NEET exam leak controversy.

This is another news report stating that students of Sikar (Rajasthan) already had 600 marks answers out of a total 720 marks paper before the NEET exam.
NEET has 180 questions in all
The GUESS paper has 140 questions which are similar
The order is similar too !
Even the options were exactly the same
Allegation - Sold for Rs.5 Lakhs each
Paper available 2 days before the exam
Closer to the exam date - Sold for Rs.30,000

Initially investigation is being carried out by the Rajasthan police and then this matter comes under NTA after four days of the examination and next day (on the 5th day) this matter is handed over to the central agencies. NTA showed full cooperation in the investigation process and forwarded the complaint to the national agencies because NTA found that the matter is extremely serious and requires proper investigation.
NTA requests aspirants and parents to permit the investigation to proceed without apprehension. Any necessary steps will be taken in consultation with the Ministry of Education.

The leaked guess paper contains 140 identical questions out of 180 total questions in the NEET 2026 examination. The options available (A, B, C, D) and the order of the questions in the guess paper both were exactly similar to the actual exam.
The guess paper was sold before the two days of the exam at a price of Rs. 5 Lakhs and sold just before one day of the exam at a price of Rs. 30,000 in Sikar, demonstrating that the guess paper was in high demand.

This is not the first time that Sikar has made headlines for such controversies. The population of Sikar is 31.63 Lakhs, and the distance from Kota is 378 Kms, and the distance from Jaipur is 114 Kms. Sikar has a history of the same kind of allegations in the NEET 2024 exam. In 2024, a similar matter happened where a famous coaching center in Sikar had circulated a practice paper just a day before the exam, and the questions in that practice paper were identical to the actual paper.

While talking about the entire Rajasthan rather than Sikar alone, based on the NEET UG 2024 data, there are 392 centres in Rajasthan out of a total of 4,750 centres. The total number of students who appeared for the NEET UG 2024 was 23,33,162, of which 1,93,130 students appeared from Rajasthan. A total of 2,321 students scored more than 700 marks, of which 482 students are from Rajasthan.
A total of 30,204 students scored more than 650 marks, of which 6,697 students are from Rajasthan, and a total of 81,5550 students scored more than 600 marks, of which 15,672 students are from Rajasthan. A huge impact of Rajasthan is also just because of Sikar, and clearly, the Sikar students are dramatically outperforming the Rajasthan students as well.
A necessary action, along with the proper investigation, is crucial to address the concerns and rebuild the credibility in the examination system.
