The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026. In a major announcement shared through its official twitter handle on May 12, 2026, the agency confirmed that the NEET 2026 exam will now be re-conducted on fresh dates, which will be announced soon. The decision of conducting NEET 2026 exam again is taken after the NTA reviewed information received from central agencies and investigation reports shared by law enforcement authorities about possible irregularities in the exam process. The Government has also ordered a CBI inquiry in NEET 2026 to find everyone involved in this scam.

The NTA has confirmed that the re-conducted examination dates for NEET 2026 will be notified separately through the official website. Candidates will also receive fresh NEET 2026 admit cards before the new examination. The revised admit card release schedule will be announced along with the new exam dates.
The NEET UG 2026 exam has been cancelled after reports of alleged exam malpractice and paper leak claims created major concerns across the country. In its statement, the NTA said that investigation reports raised serious doubts about the fairness and credibility of the exam process. The agency explained that continuing with the same exam results could have damaged the trust students and parents have in the national examination system. Although the decision may cause inconvenience to lakhs of candidates, the NTA said cancelling the exam and conducting a fresh test was necessary to ensure fairness and transparency.
The Government of India has also decided to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive inquiry. The NTA said it will fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all records, materials, and assistance required by the agency.
The CBI probe is expected to investigate the allegations related to the NEET guess paper 2026 claims, possible paper leak networks, and other reported irregularities associated with the examination.
The NTA has said that students will not need to register again for the re-NEET 2026 exam. The registration details and exam centres selected earlier will remain the same, and candidates will not have to submit a new application form. The agency also confirmed that no extra examination fee will be charged for the fresh exam. In addition, the fees already paid by students will be refunded, while the re-examination will be conducted using NTA’s own resources. This announcement has given some relief to candidates who were worried about additional costs and the registration process.
