NEET MDS 2026 Cutoff: Percentile Vs Marks

Aspirants who secure a score equal to or more than the qualifying percentile are considered eligible for admission to MDS courses. To qualify for the NEET MDS 2026 exam, candidates belonging to the general category must secure at least the 50th percentile, while it is the 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC aspirants. On the other hand, the NEET MDS cutoff marks are the minimum marks which a candidate must score in order to qualify the exam.

    Factors Affecting NEET MDS Cutoff

The cutoff for NEET MDS depends on a few important factors. These are explained below:

    1. Difficulty Level of the Question Paper

The level of difficulty plays a big role in deciding the cutoff. If the paper is tough, students score fewer marks, so the cutoff goes down. On the other hand, if the paper is easy, students score higher marks, which increases the cutoff.

    2. Number of Students Appearing in the Exam

The total number of candidates appearing in the exam also affects the cutoff. If more students take the exam, competition becomes higher, which can push the cutoff up. If fewer students appear, competition is lower, and the cutoff may decrease.

    3. Overall Performance of Students

The average performance of all candidates also matters. If most students perform well, the cutoff will increase. If the overall performance is average or low, the cutoff will be lower.
