The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET UG 2025 exam was conducted on May 4, 2025. As per media reports, over 20.8 lakh students appeared in NEET in 566 exam centres across India and abroad. The exact data on how many students appeared in NEET UG 2025 will be released by NTA along with the declaration of NEET results.

The NTA will release the detailed statistics, including the total number of appeared candidates, category-wise, gender-wise, as well as state-wise, on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. However, compared to last year, there is a slight decrease. As per the previous year's data, over 23 lakh candidates appeared for NEET UG exam. The single largest medical entrance exam in India, NEET, is conducted by NTA for admission in medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and nursing. As many as over 20.8 lakh students appeared in NEET 2025. The exact number of candidates who appeared in NEET 2025 will be available soon at neet.nta.nic.in. Around 22.8 lakh students filled the NEET application form 2025. The NEET UG 2025 was held in offline mode from 2 PM to 5 PM. Last year, a total of 23,33,297 candidates appeared for the NEET 2024, out of which 9,98,205 were male, 13,34,940 female and 17 third gender candidates. The NTA releases the number of qualified candidates on the official website along with the NEET results. Last year, as many as 1,315,853 candidates qualified for the NEET. In 2023, a total of 1,145,976 students were declared qualified in the entrance exam. Candidates can check the NEET qualified students data from the table mentioned below.

Around 22.8 lakh students had registered for NEET 2025. Over the years, NEET UG registrations have seen a massive increase in the number of applicants. In 2024, around 24,06,079 candidates registered for NEET exam, which was the highest number of registrations in the NEET history. However , this year the number of applicants showed a slight decrease in the number of registrations.

Yes , the NEST exam is generally considered tougher than NEET as it requires more focus towards conceptual understanding and thinking , while NEET generally tests NCERT based knowledge where as in NEST it requires you to have deeper clarity in Physics , Chemistry , Biology and Mathematics.
