The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) will be conducted in online CBT mode from 2027. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has confirmed that NEET UG 2027 will be conducted in online Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode instead of the traditional pen-and-paper format. This NEET 2027 exam mode change is aimed at improving transparency, and reducing paper leak incidents.

As per the latest update, NEET UG 2027 will be conducted as an online CBT examination at designated NEET exam centres across India. Candidates will have to answer questions on a computer system instead of using OMR sheets and physical question papers.
The decision comes after repeated concerns regarding paper leaks, impersonation, and exam malpractices in previous NEET examinations. The NEET 2027 online exam mode will also align the medical entrance examination with other major national-level exams such as JEE Main, CUET UG, and several entrance examinations already conducted in CBT format.

The NEET 2027 exam mode changes are being considered a major reform in the Indian education system. Until now, NEET UG was conducted in offline mode using pen-and-paper-based OMR sheets. However, the increasing number of candidates and concerns related to exam security pushed authorities to consider digital examination methods.
The online CBT mode for NEET UG 2027 is expected to provide several advantages:
Faster and more secure examination process
Reduced chances of question paper leaks
Better monitoring at examination centres
Quick response recording and evaluation
Elimination of OMR-related errors
Improved transparency in the admission process
Although the official confirmation related to NEET UG 2027 will be released later by NTA, the examination is likely to continue with the same syllabus and subject structure. Only the mode of examination is expected to change from offline to online.
One of the main reasons for the NEET 2027 exam mode changes is to improve exam security. Conducting the exam in online CBT mode can help reduce the chances of paper leaks and illegal access to question papers.
In CBT exams, question papers are stored in encrypted digital format and are opened securely at exam centres just before the test starts. This process is considered much safer than sending printed question papers to different cities.
As of now, there is no confirmation regarding any major NEET 2027 syllabus change. The syllabus is expected to remain based on NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 Physics, Chemistry, and Biology topics. However, candidates should regularly check official announcements from the National Testing Agency and the Ministry of Education for the latest updates regarding NEET UG 2027.
