The Re NEET 2026 percentile is calculated based on a candidate's relative performance compared to all other candidates who appeared for the examination. It does not represent the percentage of marks obtained. A higher percentile indicates that a candidate has performed better than a larger proportion of appeared candidates.
While the percentile reflects how well a candidate performed compared to others, the AIR is the primary criterion used during MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH admissions. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and state counselling authorities allot seats based on NEET rank, category, reservation, and candidate preferences. Therefore, candidates should focus more on their AIR while planning to appear in NEET counselling.
A percentile above 99 is generally considered excellent and significantly improves the chances of securing admission to top government medical colleges. However, what qualifies as a "good" percentile depends on the candidate's category, reservation, state quota, and the NEET cutoff trends for the participating colleges.
