JSS University Mysore Allied Sciences 2026
NAAC A+ Accredited| Ranked #21 in University Category by NIRF | Applications open for multiple UG & PG Programs
Healthcare courses aren't cheap, and for a lot of students, that's the one thing standing between them and a career they actually want. Scholarships change that equation. They bring the fee down, take some pressure off the family, and let a student focus on learning instead of worrying about money every semester. Virohan seems to understand this, which is why it has rolled out a dedicated scholarship push for 2026, and it's aimed squarely at getting more students, especially women, into allied health courses like Physiotherapy (BPT), Optometry (B.Optom), Medical Lab Sciences (B.MLS)

In June 2026, Virohan launched a scheme called the Virohan Women in Healthcare Initiative- basically a Rs 2 crore scholarship pool set aside just for female students who want to get into healthcare education. Here's the gist of it:
Every eligible female applicant gets a scholarship, no exceptions, as long as she meets the basic eligibility.
The scholarship amount is adjusted upfront against the course fee at the time of admission- so it's not a reimbursement you wait months for.
It applies whether a student is joining a 4-5 year bachelor's degree programme or a 1-year university certificate programme through Virohan.
The programmes are spread across 20+ university and college partners in India.
You don't need a NEET score to apply. Class 12 students from science as well as other academic streams can apply.

The scholarship isn't a flat one-size-fits-all amount. It works in tiers, based on how a student performed in Class 12. The following are the types of scholarships offered by Virohan:
Type of Scholarship | Scholarship Money | Eligibility Criteria |
Basic scholarship | Rs 50,000 | Every eligible female applicant |
Merit scholarship (Tier 1) | Up to Rs 1,00,000 | Class 12 score of 75% or above |
Merit scholarship (Tier 2) | Up to Rs 2,00,000 | Class 12 score of 90% or above |
So in a way, it's both a need-based and a merit-based scholarship rolled into one. Every eligible female student walks away with at least Rs 50,000 off her fee, and the better her Class 12 marks, the higher that number can climb, all the way up to Rs 2 lakh for top scoreRs
Before applying, it helps to know exactly where you stand. The criteria are fairly simple and don't involve a complicated entrance test:
The applicant must be a female student; this particular scholarship pool is exclusively for women.
She should be a Class 12 pass-out or appearing student, from any stream, science, commerce, or arts; it doesn't matter.
A NEET score is not required, which opens the door for students who didn't go the medical entrance route.
She should be enrolling in a healthcare programme through Virohan, either the 4–5 year bachelor's degree track or the 1-year certificate programme.
For the higher merit scholarships, the deciding factor is straightforward: 75 per cent and above in Class 12 gets you into the Rs 1 lakh bracket, and 90 per cent and above gets you into the Rs 2 lakh bracket.
There's no separate scholarship exam or interview mentioned- the Class 12 marksheet itself does the talking.
Applying isn't a long, drawn-out process. Here's roughly how it works:
Head to Virohan's official scholarship page at virohan.com/scholarship.
Fill in your details and click on the “Apply for Scholarship” button. The Virohan team will reach out to you.
Talk to a Virohan counsellor, who will guide you on which programme and which university partner fits your interest and location.
Submit your Class 12 marksheet so the team can assess which scholarship tier you fall into.
Once your eligibility is confirmed, the scholarship amount gets adjusted directly against your admission fee; you don't pay it first and claim it back later.
Students can also reach out directly over the phone if they'd rather speak to someone before filling out an online form.
Keep these ready before you sit down to apply; it'll save you a back-and-forth later:
Class 12 marksheet (this is the main document used to decide your scholarship tier)
A valid ID proof (Aadhaar card or similar)
Recent passport-size photograph
Contact details: phone number and email address
Basic academic records, if requested by the counsellor during admission
Since the process is handled closely with Virohan's university partners, some documentation requirements might vary slightly depending on which college or programme you're applying to.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Right now, this particular Rs 2 crore scholarship pool is only for female students. If you're a Class 12 pass-out or an appearing student, from science or any other stream, and planning to join a healthcare programme through Virohan, you're eligible to apply.
No, and that's actually one of the bigger draws of this scheme. Virohan has made it clear that NEET isn't required. Students from any academic stream can apply without worrying about that entrance exam.
It depends on your Class 12 performance. Every eligible female applicant gets Rs 50,000 as a base. If you scored 75% or above, that can go up to Rs 1 Lakh, and if you scored 90% or above, you could be looking at Rs 2 Lakhs.
It applies to healthcare programmes offered through Virohan's 20+ university and college partners. This includes both the 4- to 5-year bachelor's degree programmes and the 1-year university certificate programmes.
You can apply directly through virohan.com/scholarship, or get in touch with their counsellors over the phone if you'd prefer to talk it through before applying online.
