The UDID card is also known as the Unique Disability ID Card. This is an official identity document which is issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). The UDID card provides a unique identification number to persons with benchmark disabilities serving as a single and nationally accepted proof of disability.

Candidates applying for the PwD category in the NEET exam must have a valid and updated UDID card and also a PwD certificate. PwD certificate for NEET 2026 must meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by the NTA and NMC.

The NTA has released a NEET 2026 registration advisory. As per the NEET advisory, candidates wishing to apply under PwD category, must have their UDID cards updated and renewed, as required. The NTA NEET 2026 registration advisory can be checked below.

The UDID card plays an important role in the NEET examination. The UDID card in NEET 2026 ensures uniformity in verification of disability. UDID card in NEET 2026 is important because of the following reason:
It acts as a national valid proof of disability.
It eliminated the need for multiple disability certificates in the NEET 2026 process.
UDID card for NEET 2026 ensures that only eligible PwD candidates receive reservation benefits.
It enables digital verification during registration, aids in filling NEET application form and is used in counselling also.
It is important to avail the PwD reservation benefit on the NEET 2026 exam date.
To obtain the NEET 2026 UDID card, candidates have to follow the steps mentioned below.
Candidates need to visit the official website to apply for the UDID card: swavlambancard.gov.in.
Enter the details carefully in the UDID application form and submit.
After submission, candidates have to regularly check their application status.
When the status shows “Submitted”, candidates are required to visit the UDID/Disability Certification Section of the hospital or CMO office selected while filling the form.
Follow up for verification or assessment scheduling.
Candidates are required to get their application verified by the concerned hospital or medical authority.
If any correction is required, they must make the necessary changes as instructed.
After verification, specialist doctor(s) are assigned to assess the candidate's disability.
Candidates are required to visit the hospital on the scheduled date for the assessment.
The doctors examine the condition and prepare a medical report.
The Medical Board will review the report from the specialist doctors.
The board will decide the type and percentage of disability and approve the disability certificate.
Once approved, the medical authority will generate the UDID card and disability certificate.
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) will send the UDID card to the registered address via Speed Post.
