Admission to the list of dental colleges in Chennai is given based on the scores obtained by the student in the respective entrance exam. Those who manage to qualify for the exam will have to go through a counselling session. For NEET UG admissions, the counselling is conducted by state authorities for 85% state quota seats and by MCC for 15% All India Quota seats. For NEET MDS, the counselling is conducted by state authorities for 50% and 50% AIQ by MCC.

Graduates must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree, which must be awarded by the university or institute in India under MDS course regulations 2017 issued by the Dental Council of India (DCI) with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Candidates also must possess a provisional or permanent registration certification issued by DCI or State Dental Council (SDC).
Dental graduates must also have completed or are likely to complete the 12-month rotatory internship.
