For DPT
The duration of the course is 2 years and the eligibility criteria are as follows:
The candidates should pass class 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board.
Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the core subjects in 12th standard.
For BPT
The duration of the BPT is 4.5 years with 6 months of internship. It is a semester-wise course. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission.
Candidates should score at least 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board.
Also, candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects in class 12 along with English.
OR
Candidates who have studied DPT for 3 years after class 10 and passed it with 50% are also eligible to enrol for the BPT course.
For MPT
It is a postgraduate course with a duration of 2 years. The exams are conducted yearly. The eligibility criteria for the MPT course are as follows:
The candidates must have a BPT degree with a minimum of 50% before applying for this programme.
It is requisite for the candidates to complete 6 months of internship after the BPT degree.
For PhD in Physiotherapy
This is a doctoral-level degree with a duration of 3-4 years. The exam is conducted year-wise. The eligibility criteria for this course are given below:
Candidates should pass MPT with a minimum of 50%.
Admission to diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in physiotherapy colleges is based on either merit-based or entrance-based.
Merit-based admission: Candidates who fulfil the minimum marks criteria decided by the college or universities will be considered for admission. Eligible candidates are required to fill out the college application form and seats be allotted to them through counselling.
Entrance-based admission: Candidates have to appear for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) or entrance test conducted by the colleges. After clearing the entrance test, the qualified candidates have to sit for counselling. Candidates who have allotted seats need to fulfil the formalities within the stipulated time frame.
