For female aspirants, these guidelines are especially important, as many are unsure about what clothing is allowed and what is banned. A slight mistake in dressing can lead to inconvenience or denial of entry to the exam hall. In this article, we will break down the dress code for female students, including what to wear, what to avoid, items barred inside the hall, NEET footwear restrictions 2025, etc.

Background wave

Why does NTA enforce a NEET exam dress code for females?

Since NEET is India's single largest medical exam, it is considered a high-stakes test. In previous years, there have been incidents of unfair practices which involved hidden electronic devices, cheating tools, etc. To avoid such scenarios, NTA introduced a strict NEET 2025 dress code policy to ensure a safe, transparent and uniform exam process.

NEET dress code for girls 2025

Mentioned below are the dress code guidelines to be followed by female candidates on the day of the exam. Please note that the detailed NEET 2025 exam day guidelines are also mentioned on the admit card.

NEET exam dress code for female: What clothes to wear?

  • Female NEET aspirants can wear light-coloured clothes

  • Half-sleeved tops or kurtas are allowed.

  • Girls can wear full sleeves only if they have opted for the customary dress option while filling out the NEET application form

  • Prefer wearing simple kurtis and t-shirts.

NEET dress code 2025 for girls: What clothes to avoid?

  • Dark, flashy, or printed clothing is not allowed.

  • Full sleeves are strictly prohibited for girls who haven’t opted for the NEET customary dress code 2025 option.

  • Avoid clothing with frills, embroidery, sequins, zippers, or large buttons, as these can cause suspicion during frisking.

  • Avoid multiple layers of clothing such as jackets, shrugs, or scarves.

  • While there is no mention of whether or not plazzao, leggings are allowed in the exam hall, female NEET candidates must refrain from wearing such clothing to avoid issues at the NEET exam centre.

NEET dress code for female 2025: Footwear guidelines

  • As per NEET exam dress code for female candidates, only slippers or open-toed sandals can be worn.

  • Shoes, high heels, and closed footwear are not allowed inside the NEET exam hall.

NEET dress code 2025: Jewellery guidelines for females

  • Girls should know that no jewellery is allowed inside the NEET exam hall, such as earrings, rings, bracelets, chains, anklets, and nose pins.

  • Students should also avoid watches, sunglasses, belts and caps.

  • Hair clips, rubber bands with metal parts, and even bobby pins should also be avoided. Instead, wear a plain rubber band.

NEET 2025 customary dress for muslim girls

Females belonging to the muslim religion are mostly confused about whether or not a hijab or a burkha is allowed inside the NEET exam hall. Well, yes, the NTA has specified that candidates who follow a specific dress code for religious or cultural reasons are allowed to wear them.

But for this, one must have chosen the ‘customary dress code option” while filling out the NEET application form and must report to the exam centre at the prescribed time for frisking.

Important tips for NEET 2025 exam day

  • Reach the centre as per the reporting time mentioned in the admit card

  • Carry mandatory documents, such as the NEET admit card, valid photo ID, passport-size photo, and PwD certificate (if applicable).

  • Avoid wearing makeup, nail paint, or perfumes, as these may also be restricted.

  • Pack your bag the night before and cross-check the dress code before leaving home.

Additional tip: If unsure about any piece of clothing or accessory, it’s safer to leave it at home.
