NEET 2027 Physics Chapter-Wise Weightage: Physics is the subject where NEET aspirants most often report running out of time or second-guessing calculations under pressure. That's why chapter-wise weightage becomes more useful here than almost anywhere else in the syllabus. Knowing the chapter-wise weightage of physics over the past five NEET papers lets you decide what to read and what to skip. This article provides chapter-wise weightage (2022–2026) for NEET 2027 Physics.

A single year's NEET Physics paper can be misleading on its own. A chapter that got zero questions in 2023 might get three in 2024, and treating that as a stable "low-weightage" or "high-weightage" verdict based on one data point is how students end up under-preparing a chapter that was simply due for a heavier year. Looking at five years' data shows which chapters have stayed reliably important versus which ones spike occasionally and then go quiet. That distinction should directly shape how NEET 2027 Physics revision time gets allocated. Consistent chapters are selected for revision slots, while volatile chapters get covered but not over-invested in during the final weeks.

The table below is sorted by five-year average, highest first, so the chapters NEET has leaned on most consistently across the last five papers appear at the top.

Per-year figures give yearly totals of 50 (2022), 50 (2023), 50 (2024), 45 (2025), and 44 (2026) questions across all chapters — not a clean 45 every year, which is what NEET Physics is structured to have. This isn't something this article can resolve on its own; it may reflect genuine year-to-year variation (2024, for instance, had documented multi-set and normalisation issues in some centres).
Four chapters have stayed in the top tier every single year of this five-year window, which is a stronger signal than a high average alone: Current Electricity, Semiconductor Electronics, Ray Optics and Optical Instruments, and Gravitation all posted at least one question every year, with Current Electricity never dropping below 1 and touching 4 in three separate years. Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance and Oscillations round out the consistently strong group, though both had one noticeably softer year (2023 for the former, 2026 for the latter) inside an otherwise strong run.
A few chapters moved sharply enough in 2026 that following the five-year average would be a mistake. Electromagnetic Induction jumped from a steady 1–2 questions across 2022–2025 to 5 questions in 2026. This chapter was the single largest single-year increase in the entire dataset. Current Electricity, historically the highest-weightage chapter overall, dropped to just 1 question in 2026 after holding at 3–4 for the four years before it. Alternating Current fell to zero questions in 2026 despite of contributing an average of 2 questions across the prior four years. Waves, which was at zero for three straight years, appeared twice in 2026. None of these swings is large enough on its own to declare a permanent pattern shift.
The practical move is to build your physics revision order based on chapter-wise weightage rather than working through NCERT chapter-by-chapter in textbook order, which treats a chapter like Mechanical Properties of Solids (0.6 average) with the same urgency as Current Electricity (3.2 average). Once the priority order is set, pair it with focused numerical practice — the top 50 NEET Physics numericals built to guarantee 120 marks are built around exactly this kind of high-yield-chapter targeting, and general guidance on how to study Physics for NEET covers the conceptual sequencing that a weightage table alone can't.
If Physics has consistently been your weaker subject relative to Biology and Chemistry, you need to check how your overall NEET 2027 study timetable allocates hours across subjects rather than an equal three-way split. The data above should inform how much of that time goes specifically to the consistently high-weightage chapters versus the volatile ones. For the students left with less time to cover the syllabus, the same prioritisation logic applies whether you're following a 3-month plan or a 1-month plan. The chapters at the top of the table above are the ones which should be covered first.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Current Electricity has the highest five-year average (3.2 questions per year), followed closely by Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance (3.0) and Semiconductor Electronics (2.8). Current Electricity did drop sharply to just 1 question in 2026, though.
No. Chapters like Mechanical Properties of Solids or Waves average below 1 question a year, but they show up consistently. The weightage data should guide how much revision time each chapter gets, rather than ignoring them completely.
