The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially been asked to investigate the alleged NEET 2026 paper leak and find out who leaked NEET paper 2026. This decision comes after the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the NEET 2026 exam conducted on May 3, 2026, following concerns over transparency, paper leak and malpractice. The announcement has created major concern among lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. The investigation into the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak is still ongoing, and officials have not officially confirmed who leaked the paper. However, according to the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG), a man named "Manish Yadav" from Jaipur is being considered a key suspect in the case.
Initial reports suggest that a “guess paper” matching more than 120 questions, mainly from Chemistry, was first shared by a medical student from Churu who was studying in Kerala. The paper was then reportedly passed to another person in Sikar, Rajasthan, and later circulated through WhatsApp groups like “Private Mafia” and several Telegram channels.
Authorities also claim that the leaked NEET 2026 paper was allegedly sold for up to Rs.5 lakh. So far, the Rajasthan SOG has detained around 13 to 15 people from Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Dehradun as part of the investigation.

According to the latest NTA NEET 2026 press release of May 12, 2026, the agency stated that it reviewed multiple inputs and findings shared by law enforcement agencies. Based on these findings, the Government of India approved the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination.
The NTA said the decision was taken to maintain fairness, transparency, and credibility in national-level entrance examinations. Authorities reportedly found that the integrity of the examination process may have been compromised, which led to the cancellation of NEET UG 2026. The NTA also clarified that the re NEET 2026 will take place on new dates that will be announced separately.
One of the biggest developments in the NEET 2026 exam cancellation is the decision to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). As mentioned in the official notice, the Government of India has referred the matter to the CBI for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations connected with NEET UG 2026 question paper leak.
The CBI inquiry NEET 2026 will investigate the alleged paper leak claims, malpractice during the examination process, role of individuals or organised groups who are responsible for this mass scale paper leak, and digital evidence and communication records to check for any NEET 2026 exam centre related irregularities. The NTA has confirmed that it will fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all necessary records, materials, and assistance required by the CBI.
The main reason behind the cancellation of NEET 2026 exam is the paper leak found by investigating agencies. The investigation agencies recovered some digital evidence that confirms that several questions of the NEET exam were leaked before the exam through a “Guess Paper”. Several individuals were questioned and detained by investigating agencies in this matter and considering the seriousness of the situation, NTA decided to cancel the exam and re-conduct it again.
After the cancellation announcement, many students are now worried about re NEET 2026 expected date and whether they would need to register again for the examination.
