The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued important guidelines for medical aspirants who are planning to apply for NEET UG 2026. The NTA NEET 2026 application form advisory mentions that Aadhaar details must be accurate, valid, and updated before filling the application form. Aadhaar is a key identity document which is used during registration, exam day, and counselling. Any mismatch or error in Aadhaar details can create problems for students at later stages of the admission process.

NEET UG is the single national-level entrance examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical courses in India. Since the NEET application form 2026 can be filled in online mode only, it is important to ensure that Aadhaar details are correct and updated for a smooth registration process. Also since Aadhaar is mandatory for NEET 2026, medical aspirants are advised to follow the NTA’s guidelines and update their Aadhaar details before the application process begins.
NTA on January 5, 2026 released an advisory for NEET 2026 aspirants regarding the updation of Aadhaar details. This advisory is mainly for the NEET application form, which will be filled online. According to the NTA, candidates must ensure that their Aadhaar card reflects their correct personal and biometric details before submitting the NEET UG 2026 application form. Incorrect or outdated Aadhaar information may lead to issues in form filling, admit card generation, and might result in rejection during the exam day. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised not to ignore Aadhaar verification and update requirements.

For the NEET exam, candidates can update their Aadhaar details through the official UIDAI process, either online or offline, depending on the type of correction required.
To update Aadhaar online, candidates need their registered mobile number to receive OTP verification and may need to produce supporting documents for approval. Candidates can only update limited Aadhaar details in online mode through the official Aadhaar update portal. This method is generally available for:
Address updates
Minor demographic corrections (as permitted by UIDAI)
Candidates must visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to offline update their Aadhaar. Original documents are required for verification, and biometric updates are carried out on-site. Through the offline update, following corrections can be made:
Name
Date of birth
Gender
Photograph
Biometric details
The NTA is expected to start the registrations for NEET 2026 in February. Candidates are advised to complete Aadhaar updates well before the release of the NEET UG 2026 application form. Aadhaar correction requests may take time for verification and approval and hence waiting until the last date of NEET 2026 registration may result in incomplete updates and application issues .
While filling the NEET application form 2026, candidates are required to enter certain details, that includes Aadhaar details too. Before applying, candidates should carefully verify the following Aadhaar details:
Full name (as per official records)
Date of birth
Gender
Photograph
Address
Biometric information (fingerprints and iris, wherever applicable)
All these details should exactly match the information entered in the NEET UG 2026 application form to avoid discrepancies.
NTA does not update Aadhaar details on behalf of candidates
Aadhaar corrections must be completed before applying for NEET UG 2026, as once the application is submitted and the NEET confirmation page 2026 is generated, the details mentioned in the application is considered for further process
Details in Aadhaar should match exactly with application form entries
Candidates should regularly check official NTA NEET 2026 official website for all the updates
