The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the NEET UG 2026 registrations in online mode. The NEET 2026 registration process has began on February 8, 2026. Eligible candidates can register for NEET 2026 exam till February 8, 2026. The authority has released the NEET 2026 information bulleting mentioning that candidates appearing in the entrance exam must ensure that their Aadhaar card are updates for registration process. In an advisory released before, candidates were asked to update their Aadhaar Card, UDID Card and Category certificate. This implies that the ‘Aadhaar is mandatory for NEET 2026’.

Yes, an Aadhaar card is mandatory for NEET 2026. Candidates wishing to appear for the NEET 2026 must update their Aadhaar Cards well before the commencement of the registration process. Aadhaar details will be utilised to register and fill the NEET 2026 application form. As per the NEET 2025 advisory released by NTA, a candidate’s Aadhaar must reflect the below mentioned details correctly.

Date of Birth
Gender
Photograph
Address
Biometric information (wherever applicable)

NTA prefers Aadhaar for NEET 2026 registration because of its unique identification number along with the available biometrics. Aadhaar is mandatory for NEET 2026 for the following reasons.
Aadhaar ensures unique candidate identification.
It helps in avoiding duplicate NEET registration 2026.
With the use of Aadhaar in registration, errors in candidate’s name, date of birth and other details are minimized.
Aadhaar speeds up the application process and also aids in the NEET UG counselling.
Updated Aadhaar card will help candidates in smooth NEET registration 2026 process.
While filling the application form for the NEET exam, candidates will have to do the following things:
Enter 12-digit Aadhaar number
Ensure that personal details exactly match with the Aadhaar details
Verify Aadhaar-linked information before the final submission of the NEET application form.
Candidates who do not have their Aadhaar cards and aspire to appear for the NEET UG 2026 exam must apply for the Aadhaar before the commencement of the registration process. Without Aadhaar, candidates will not be eligible to apply for the NEET 2026. To apply for the Aadhaar card, candidates will have to follow the steps mentioned below.
Go to the official website: uidai.gov.in.
On the homepage, click on the ‘Get Aadhaar’ tab.
Then click on, ‘Book an appointment’ tab.
Enter your name, mobile number and captcha code.
An OTP will be sent to the entered mobile number.
Enter the OTP in the provided space and click on ‘Authenticate the OTP’.
In the next step, click on ‘’Select center’.
Enter the asked details and search the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Click on ‘Book an appointment’.
Visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra on the specified date and time.
Candidates can check their Aadhaar status and also download the Aadhaar from the official website.
Candidates who have their Aadhaar cards must check whether it is updated or not. To update Aadhaar for NEET 2026, candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below.
Go to the official website: uidai.gov.in.
On the homepage, click on the ‘Update your Aadhaar’ tab.
Click on the ‘Document update’ tab.
Upload the documents in support of identity and address and click on ‘Submit’.
Once verified, Aadhaar details are updated which can be checked from the official website.
Download the updated Aadhaar card for future use.
NEET 2026 aspirants must use the Aadhaar card for registration, counselling and verification process.
Government issued Aadhaar cards should be carried to the NEET exam centre to avoid any hassle.
Candidates must ensure that the details in the Aadhaar card along with photograph and biometric are updated.
