| New Change | What It Means for Candidates |

No Physical Reporting for Upgradation | Candidates opting for seat upgradation do not have to visit the allotted college. |

One of the biggest changes in NEET Counselling 2026 is the removal of mandatory physical reporting for candidates who choose seat upgradation. Earlier, candidates who were allotted a seat had to report physically to the allotted college even if they wanted to participate in the next counselling round for a better seat.
Under the revised MCC Counselling 2026, candidates who opt for upgradation will not be required to visit the allotted institute only to complete admission formalities. Their admission will remain valid in the counselling system while they participate in upcoming rounds for a better seat. This change is expected to save both time and travel expenses for candidates.
Another important change in MCC Counselling 2026 is the introduction of an online resignation facility. Candidates who wish to resign from their allotted seat, can now complete the process through the MCC Counselling Portal.
There will no longer be any requirement to physically submit resignation documents at the allotted medical college. However, the resignation must be completed within the timelines prescribed by MCC.
The MCC has also introduced an online document submission facility for candidates seeking NRI reservation in deemed universities. Instead of submitting documents offline, eligible candidates can now upload the required certificates directly on the counselling portal during MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026. The online verification system is expected to make the admission process faster and more convenient.
The MCC conducts the online counselling of NEET UG which covers several seats. A brief description of the seats covered under MCC NEET UG counselling is provided below.
| Counselling Type | Seats Covered |

All India Quota (AIQ) | 15% MBBS/BDS seats |
