NEET is the single window entrance exam for Indian and overseas students to get admission to the undergraduate medical courses. NRI quota in NEET holds a significant relevance for students living abroad but seeking admission into Indian medical colleges. For NEET 2025 NRI admission, candidates will have to submit documents issued by Indian Mission/ MEA. As per that latest update, NRI candidates who did not submit their nationality as NRI/OCI/PIO at the time of registration were required to send the scanned documents to MCC at ug.nri.mcc@gmail.com till July 26, 2025 (7PM).

For MBBS admission 2025, the authority has issued several guidelines to ensure a fair seat allotment process. Among the issued guidelines is the one by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the candidates claiming for NRI quota in NEET 2025. Before we delve into the recent guidelines for NRI candidates issued by the MCC, let’s first understand who all can be classified as an NRI candidate. An NRI candidate is an Indian citizen residing aboard for more than 182 days in a financial year. For admission under NRI quota in MBBS courses, candidates must fall under any of the following categories:
Children of Indian Citizens residing outside India
Children of NRIs/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
Indian citizens sponsored by an NRI relative
Students whose parents are working outside India and candidates have studied abroad.
For the NEET 2025 admission in MBBS course, NRI candidates have to submit documents as per the norms stated by the MCC. The important MCC guidelines for NRI NEET 2025 admissions are:
Candidates are eligible for admission under the NRI quota if they produce documents issued by Indian Mission/ MEA in support of being an NRI.
The submitted documents will be verified by the allotted colleges at the time of reporting.
Colleges will send a copy of documents submitted by the candidates to the MCC for scrutiny.
MCC will send these documents to the concerned mission/ embassy for verification.
If documents are found to be incomplete or false, it will lead to rejection of the seat.

To be eligible for the MBBS admission under NRI quota seats, candidates must fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria.
Candidates must have appeared and qualified for the NEET UG 2025 exam.
Aspirants must fulfill the basic NEET eligibility criteria as mentioned by the NTA.
Candidates must have to submit NRI status proof.
The NRI quota in MBBS admission refers to the seats reserved for NRI candidates in medical colleges across India. Around 15% of the total seats in Deemed Universities are reserved under NRI quota. The availability of NRI seats in India differs from state to state and college to college. The NEET 2025 NRI seats are reserved in the following:
Deemed universities: MBBS seats are reserved for NRI candidates in Deemed universities. These institutions are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
NRI seats in private medical colleges: Many state private colleges reserve a specific percentage of their total MBBS seats for NRI candidates.
Some government colleges: Some state government colleges also have NRI quota.

Candidates must register and appear for the NEET exam conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to MBBS course in India.
Candidates must qualify for the exam by scoring equal or above the NEET 2025 cutoff. NRI candidates who qualify the exam are only eligible for the further admission process.
Qualified candidates are required to appear for the NEET counselling conducted by the MCC or for the counselling conducted by the state authorities. While register for the NEET 2025 counselling, candidates must select ‘Deemed University’ as the counselling option (if app;ying under centralised counselling).
Based on the availability of seats and preferences filled by the candidates, the authority announces the allotment result for the NRI candidates. Candidates who are granted seats under NRI quota in NEET 2025 are required to appear for the document verification to submit the specified documents.
Once the documents are verified, candidates must submit the MBBS fees to lock their allotted seat.
