NEET Qualifying Marks: How It Is Different From Admission Cutoff?

Many candidates often confuse qualifying marks with admission cutoff marks. Both are different terms in NEET admissions. Candidates can know the difference between NEET qualifying marks and admission cutoff below.

    • NEET Qualifying Marks
NEET 2026 qualifying marks are the minimum scores required to pass the NEET examination and become eligible for counselling.

    • NEET Admission Cutoff
The NEET admission cutoff is the last rank at which admission is granted in the medical colleges. Admission cutoff marks are generally much higher than the qualifying marks, especially for government medical colleges. For example, a candidate scoring 170 marks may qualify for NEET under the general category, but such marks may not be sufficient to get admission into an MBBS government college.

Factors Affecting NEET 2026 Qualifying Marks

Several factors which influence the NEET 2026 qualifying marks are:

    • NEET Exam Difficulty Level: The qualifying marks get affected by the NEET difficulty level. If the NEET question paper is difficult, the qualifying marks may decrease slightly. On the other hand, easier papers may result in higher qualifying scores.
