The NEET 2026 expected cutoff depends on several factors, such as the total number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level, the number of available seats, and the overall performance of students. Around 22.79 lakh students have registered and are expected to appear for the NEET UG 2026 exam this year. The difficulty level is expected to be similar to last year, ranging from moderate to tough.
Additionally, there has been a significant increase in the total number of seats, with approximately 11,000 more MBBS seats in India added. However, in recent years, the NTA has increased the difficulty level of the exam, which has impacted the overall performance of candidates. Considering all these factors, the expected cutoff marks for NEET 2026 are likely to be around 150 for the UR category, 118 for SC/ST/OBC (including PwD), and 130 for the UR-PwD category.

The expected cutoff of NEET UG 2026 depends on several factors. Some of the major affecting factors that can influence the expected cutoff of NEET 2026 are discussed below.
As per the NTA’s released data, a total of 22.79 lakh students have registered for NEET UG exam this year. Although this is an increase of only 3000 students from last year, it can influence the NEET cutoff. The more the number of students appearing for exams, the more is the competition, and hence a slightly high cutoff.
The difficulty level of NEET 2026 also influences the cutoff. If the exam's difficulty level is tough, the cutoff remains on the lower side, on the other hand an easier exam shifts the cutoff on the higher side.
The total available seats in NEET 2026 directly influence the expected cutoff scores. If more seats are available, there is less competition for each seat and hence cutoff can go low. However, if there is more competition per seat, the cutoff can go high. For NEET 2026, there can be an increase of about 12000 seats, resulting in slightly lower cutoff scores, however the total NEET 2026 applicants has also increased.
The overall performance of students also affects the NEET 2026 cutoff. If the overall performance is good, the cutoff may rise. Similarly, if overall candidate performance is low, the cutoff is likely to reduce.
Category | Percentile | NEET 2025 | NEET 2024 | NEET 2023 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
UR / EWS | 50th | 686 - 144 | 720 - 162 | 720 - 137 |
OBC / SC / ST | 40th | 143 - 113 | 161 - 127 | 136 - 107 |
UR / EWS - PwBD | 45th | 143 - 127 | 161 - 144 | 136 - 121 |
OBC / SC / ST - PwBD | 40th | 126 - 113 | 143 - 127 | 120 - 107 |
The NEET 2025 exam is considered one of the toughest exams which is visible by the qualifying cutoff marks. The topper of NEET 2025 managed to score only 686 marks, which is the lowest in recent years.
The NEET 2024 exam was one of the easiest exams and hence had a high cutoff. In NEET 2024, 17 students scored 720 marks out of 720.
