The FMGE screening test is conducted biannually in two sessions - June and December by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). If any Indian citizen/overseas citizen of India possessing a medical degree outside of India wants to practise medicine in India, needs to pass the FMGE 2025 screening test. However, candidates holding a medical degree from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America are not required to qualify the FMGE 2025.
The FMGE exam is held online and comprises 300 MCQs in English language only. The FMGE exam paper is delivered in two parts. Each part comprises 150 questions which are further divided into three sections - A, B, and C with 50 questions each. For each section, a sectional timing of 50 minutes is given. Candidates cannot move to the other section unless the sectional time of a particular section ends. For each correct answer, a + 1 mark is given, whereas there is no negative marking in the FMGE 2025 exam.
The application form of FMGE 2025 will be made available on the official website, natboard.edu.in. The authority provides a correction window after the application form are closed. The admit card of FMGE 2025 is released online for the successfully registered candidates. After the successful completion of the FMGE 2025 exam, the FMGE result 2025 is declared by the authority in the form of a scorecard. Medical graduates must fulfil certain eligibility criteria of FMGE 2025 before filling up the application form of FMGE 2025. These FMGE 2025 eligibility criteria are as follows-
Candidate must be an Indian citizen or overseas citizen of India
Aspirants must have qualified NEET UG.
The aspirant should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated.
The result of the final examination of the said primary medical qualification of the aspirant should have been declared.
Candidates should have proof of the said primary medical qualification.
The aspirant should have obtained an “Eligibility certificate” from the National Medical Commission.
Note: Candidate seeking provisional or permanent registration in India shall not have to qualify for the screening test if he/she holds an undergraduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America

The authority releases the detailed syllabus of FMGE 2025 on the official brochure. The syllabus for the test shall comprise subjects as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Government of India. The syllabus of FMGE 2025 includes pre and para-clinical subjects and clinical subjects. The pre and para-clinical subjects hold a weightage of 100 marks and the clinical subjects hold 200 marks.
The application form for FMGE 2025 involves several steps that need to be completed carefully. The FMGE 2025 application form can be filled out from the official website natboard.edu.in. The steps involved in the filling up of the FMGE application form 2025 are as follows -
Aspirants are required to create an online profile of themselves to generate a user ID and password. This user ID and password is used later in the whole process. Online registrations can be done online only.
This step involves filling up all the details of the aspirant. This includes - personal details, academic details, correspondence and permanent address in India, details of primary medical qualification, and eligibility certificate.
Uploading of scanned documents - In this step, students have to upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format. These documents include a photograph, scanned signature, thumb impression, primary medical qualification degree certificate, proof of citizenship, and eligibility certificate.
Choosing FMGE 2025 exam city - Candidates must select their preferred city for FMGE 2025. A detailed list of these exam centres of FMGE is provided in the official brochure of FMGE 2025.
Application fee payment - Aspirants have to pay an application fee of Rs.6195 through the online mode only. This application fee of FMGE 2025 is the same for all the candidates irrespective of their category.
Printout of the confirmation page - Upon the successful fee payment, applicants have to take a printout of the duly filled application form of FMGE 2025 for future reference. This confirmation page serves as proof of the successful submission of the online application form.
The admit cards of FMGE 2025 are issued online by the authority on its official website. The students are informed in advance regarding the availability of the admit card. Under no circumstances, FMGE 2025 admit cards are sent to the candidates by Post/Email. After downloading the FMGE exam admit card, aspirants have to affix their recent passport-size photograph to it. This duly attested admit card along with a valid ID needs to be presented at the time of entering the exam centre of FMGE 2025.

After the successful completion of the entrance exam, the FMGE result 2025 is declared by the authority in the form of a scorecard. The aspirants can download their FMGE 2025 result by logging in using the user and password.
A candidate shall be declared as having passed FMGE only if he/ she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination. After the result declaration, the qualified candidates have to appear for the “in-person” verification to obtain their FMGE pass certificate. The qualified candidates will be issued pass certificates after in-person document and identity verification tentatively within four weeks of the declaration of results.
The FMGE 2025 screening test will be held in two sessions - June and December. The authority will soon announce the dates for each session.
