PGIMER Result 2020 - Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh will be going to declare PGIMER 2020 result tentatively in the fourth week of May 2020. The authority will be also releasing PGIMER merit list 2020 mentioning candidates who are eligible to appear for counselling process. PGIMER 2020 list can be downloaded from the link available below along with the result. Through PG result 2020, as many as 483 candidates have been called for admission to 206 seats offered in PGIMER, Chandigarh. PGIMER MD/MS result 2020 has been announced in the form of scorecard, which can be checked using the login ID, password and captcha code. The authority has also released the tentative seat matrix and counselling dates, which indicates that PGIMER result will be the basis for admission to 207 MD/MS seats offered under 20 specialties. Candidates who will secure the minimum required percentile as declared by the exam conducting authority will be considered to have cleared the entrance examination. The cutoff percentile for PGIMER 2020 for general category candidates along with sponsored/deputed candidates is 55th percentile, SC/ST/OBC category and candidate belonging to rural areas will have to secure 50th percentile to qualify the exam and Bhutanese nationals will be required to secure 45th percentile to clear the exam. In order to qualify the PGIMER 2020 January session, candidates will have to secure the prerequisite qualifying percentile. Those candidates who will not secure the minimum qualifying percentile will not be included in the result of PGIMER 2020 and thus such candidates will not be considered eligible for admission process. The qualifying percentile is different for each category which can be checked in the table below.

A total of 250 questions were asked in PGIMER 2020 for which five alternate responses will be provided, each. After the calculation of raw scores, with consideration of negative marks, the percentile score of an individual candidate is enumerated applying a normalisation method.
The formula used for calculating the raw score for PGIMER result is given below-
Percentage score = [x/a-y/b]*100, where:
'x' and 'y' are correct and incorrect responses marked by candidates respectively.
'a' and 'b' are correct responses and incorrect responses in the exam respectively.

Percentile score = [(B+(0.5*E))/N]*100, where:
B is the number of scores below the candidate's score.
E is the number of scores equal to the candidate's score.
N is the number of candidates appearing for the exam.
The result of PGIMER will be released in the form of merit list. The competent authority will release a total of nine category-wise merit list. These merit lists contain only the name of such candidates who have qualified. The various categories of which separate merit list is published has been mentioned below.

In order to resolve a tie in the inter-se merit for selection, tie-breaking criteria will be applied. If two or more candidates who have secured equal percentile scores then a candidate will be shortlisted on the following criteria.
Candidates who have obtained higher aggregate marks in MBBS examination shall rank higher to a candidate who has obtained lower marks.
If the tie still persists a candidate senior in age shall rank higher to a candidate who is junior in age. An overall merit list based on the percentile obtained by all the candidates appearing in the examination in the theory examination (irrespective of their category) will be prepared
