PGIMER Result 2020 - Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh will be going to declare PGIMER 2020 result tentatively in the fourth week of May 2020. The authority will be also releasing PGIMER merit list 2020 mentioning candidates who are eligible to appear for counselling process. PGIMER 2020 list can be downloaded from the link available below along with the result. Through PG result 2020, as many as 483 candidates have been called for admission to 206 seats offered in PGIMER, Chandigarh. PGIMER MD/MS result 2020 has been announced in the form of scorecard, which can be checked using the login ID, password and captcha code. The authority has also released the tentative seat matrix and counselling dates, which indicates that PGIMER result will be the basis for admission to 207 MD/MS seats offered under 20 specialties. Based on the scores of PGIMER 2020, the authority will prepare the merit list mentioning the rank of candidates who will be called for counselling process. PGIMER 2020 result for MD/MS courses will mention the names of candidates, roll number, total percentile & marks obtained, subject-wise scores, All India Rank (AIR) and other counselling details.

Candidates who will secure the minimum required percentile as declared by the exam conducting authority will be considered to have cleared the entrance examination. The cutoff percentile for PGIMER 2020 for general category candidates along with sponsored/deputed candidates is 55th percentile, SC/ST/OBC category and candidate belonging to rural areas will have to secure 50th percentile to qualify the exam and Bhutanese nationals will be required to secure 45th percentile to clear the exam. Conducted biannually, PGIMER is a national level entrance test held in the month of November and May for January and July session. PGIMER 2020 was conducted on November 30, 2019, in online mode.

PGIMER 2020 result - scorecard

After the declaration of result, qualified candidates will be able to download the individual scorecard which has been released on December 9. Candidates can check the below-mentioned steps to download the PGIMER 2020 scorecard.

  • Click on the official link provided above

  • Enter the user/login ID, password and captcha code to download PGI result

  • The PGIMER result 2020 and the scorecard will appear on the screen containing candidate’s roll number, name of the candidate, category percentile, overall rank and category rank.

PGIMER result 2020- Cut off

In order to qualify the PGIMER 2020 January session, candidates will have to secure the prerequisite qualifying percentile. Those candidates who will not secure the minimum qualifying percentile will not be included in the result of PGIMER 2020 and thus such candidates will not be considered eligible for admission process. The qualifying percentile is different for each category which can be checked in the table below.

PGIMER 2020 result - Calculation Criteria

A total of 250 questions were asked in PGIMER 2020 for which five alternate responses will be provided, each. After the calculation of raw scores, with consideration of negative marks, the percentile score of an individual candidate is enumerated applying a normalisation method.

The formula used for calculating the raw score for PGIMER result is given below-

Percentage score = [x/a-y/b]*100, where:

  • 'x' and 'y' are correct and incorrect responses marked by candidates respectively.

  • 'a' and 'b' are correct responses and incorrect responses in the exam respectively.

The formula used for calculating the percentile score for PGIMER result can be checked below-

Percentile score = [(B+(0.5*E))/N]*100, where:

  • B is the number of scores below the candidate's score.

  • E is the number of scores equal to the candidate's score.

  • N is the number of candidates appearing for the exam.

PGIMER result 2020- Merit lists

The result of PGIMER will be released in the form of merit list. The competent authority will release a total of nine category-wise merit list. These merit lists contain only the name of such candidates who have qualified. The various categories of which separate merit list is published has been mentioned below.

  • General category

  • OBC (Other Backward Classes)

  • SC (Scheduled Caste)

  • ST (Scheduled Tribe)

  • RAC (Rural Area Candidates)

  • PwD (People with Disability)

  • Sponsored candidates

  • Foreign National (NRI/OCI)

  • Bhutanese National

PGIMER 2020 result - Tie-breaking criteria

In order to resolve a tie in the inter-se merit for selection, tie-breaking criteria will be applied. If two or more candidates who have secured equal percentile scores then a candidate will be shortlisted on the following criteria.

  1. Candidates who have obtained higher aggregate marks in MBBS examination shall rank higher to a candidate who has obtained lower marks.

  2. If the tie still persists a candidate senior in age shall rank higher to a candidate who is junior in age. An overall merit list based on the percentile obtained by all the candidates appearing in the examination in the theory examination (irrespective of their category) will be prepared

So, PGIMER 2020 will be conducted twice a year in the month of November and June for January and July session respectively.

And its official eligibility criteria says :

Candidates must have completed a one-year rotatory internship by December 31, 2019, for the January session.
and;
Each candidate applying for PGIMER 2020 must have a permanent/provisional registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India.

So, unfortunately you cannot appear for PGIMER 2020.

The next application form for PGIMER will be for July session. The application forms will be released in the second week of March 2020 and will be ending till second week of April 2020. Hi Ankita,

If your question is with respect to admission for the year 2020 then unfortunately you have missed it for January session as the form filling date for the year 2020 was from 26 october 2019 to 14 november 2019 andThe exam was conducted on 30th November 2019.

For July session they still had not released any schedule. You need to wait for it.
