NEET PG 2025 postponed - Possible reasons

Several factors are hinting towards a postponement of the NEET PG 2025 exam. Some of these factors due to which the NBE can postpone the NEET PG 2025 exam are as follows -

1. Delay in NEET PG 2025 registration date

As of March 2025, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) did not release the official notification for NEET PG 2025. Generally, NBE releases the notification of the NEET PG exam 2-3 months before the exam date, allowing candidates enough time to fill out the NEET PG application form and prepare. The delay in NEET PG 2025 official notification is hinting towards a possible postponement of NEET PG exam date 2025.

2. Ongoing 2024 NEET PG Counselling

The counselling process for NEET PG 2024 has again extended with the reduction in NEET PG 2024 cutoff percentile. This extended timeline of NEET PG counselling has disrupted the exam calendar of NBE and could potentially overlap with the tentative exam date of NEET PG 2025. If this happens, there is a high possibility of NEET PG 2025 being postponed.

3. Reduction in NEET PG Qualifying Percentile

To address the issue of vacant seats and fill them, the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2024 has been reduced twice. This reduction in NEET PG 2024 cutoff has been made to fill more seats, and there is a possibility that the qualifying percentile may be reduced further. If this happens, then the counselling of NEET PG 2024 might get extended further, forcing NBE to postpone the NEET PG 2025 exam date.

How does NEET PG 2025 postponement affect students?

The potential postponement of NEET PG 2025 can have significant implications for students. Some of these implications of NEET PG 2025 postponement are as follows -

  • Extended preparation time - One positive impact of NEET PG 2025 postponement is that it allows the benefit of additional time for students to prepare well for NEET PG 2025.

  • Delayed academic sessions: The postponement of NEET PG 2025 can disrupt the commencement of postgraduate courses by delaying the academic sessions. This will not only affect the availability of resident doctors in hospitals but will affect patient care, too.

  • Career planning uncertainties: With the delay in NEET PG 2025 exam, many aspirants may face challenges in aligning their career timelines, especially those aiming for specific specialisations or institutions.

Hope it helps.

Hello,

With an All India rank of around 82,471 and UP state rank around 4,633 , your chances for MS Surgery in government colleges are very low. You may get a seat in private or deemed colleges , mainly in UP. Chances in other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu are lower due to domicile rules and local quota preference.

Choice filling strategy:

  1. Top: Private/deemed colleges in UP for Surgery.

  2. Backup: Other clinical branches (Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology) in private/deemed colleges.

  3. Safe: Non-clinical or less competitive branches in private/deemed colleges.

Tips:

  • Check fees, bond, and stipend before choosing.

  • Be flexible with branch and college to secure a seat.

You have a non-zero chance if you focus on private/deemed colleges and plan your choices wisely.

Hope it helps !

Hello, in NEET PG 2025, if you get a government college seat, the monthly stipend is typically around Fifty thousand to Ninety Thousand Rupees with modest tuition fees, and a possible service bond of several lakhs depending on the state. Your rank of 82,471 may limit chances in the second round, and if allotted a seat in a private or deemed college, the fees are actually higher and also, the stipend or bond rules may differ. The exact details actually depend on the college and state quota that you secure. All the best!
