The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra has ordered re-verification of documents submitted by the candidates who have registered for the round 3 state counselling of Maharashtra. This document re-verification for Maharashtra NEET counselling round 3 has been ordered after 152 candidates were flagged for the use of fake documents during the registration process. The authority will announce the affected candidates through email/ SMS and they will have to re-upload the required documents within stipulated time, failing to do so, the candidates will be disqualified from the counselling process.
The Maharashtra CET Cell released a notice on October 14, 2025 responding to the complaints that some out‑of‑Maharashtra candidates used fake documents to register during the CAP Round 3 of Maharashtra NEET 2025 counselling. In response to this, as per media reports, a total of 152 candidates were flagged by the authority for the use of forged documents. Candidates should know that Maharashtra is a “Closed” state and restricts the students outside of Maharashtra from participating in the state counselling.
The State Common Entrance Examination Cell (CET Cell), Mumbai has notified 152 students participating in the third round of counselling regarding issues with their submitted domicile documents. Following the release of the provisional round 3 Maharashtra NEET merit list, the CET Cell received complaints about discrepancies in the domicile documents of several applicants, who are not a domicile of Maharashtra. A subsequent preliminary investigation confirmed that 152 students had uploaded incorrect documents.
The CET Cell has instructed these students to submit original and authentic documents through the official CET website by 12 PM on October 16, 2025. Students who fail to submit their documents by the given deadline will be excluded from the third round of Maharashtra NEET admissions.

Candidates should note that the document verification for the round 3 Maharashtra NEET counselling is not limited to the 152 identified students only. All the students who have registered for the round 3 state counselling of Maharashtra NEET 2025 have to go through the re-verification of documents.
Maharashtra is a “closed” state in NEET UG counselling, meaning its state counselling process primarily serves the Maharashtra domiciled candidates for the 85% state quota counselling. Only the 15% AIQ is “Open” and is conducted separately by the MCC.
As per the eligibility criteria for state counselling of Maharashtra NEET, non-domicile candidates cannot claim seats in Maharashtra. Only those candidates who are domicile of Maharashtra based on the domicile via self/parents, schooling/residence-based types, or specified administrative categories are eligible for the state counselling.
The round 3 registrations of Maharashtra NEET counselling 2025 were available from October 6 to 8, 2025. As per the earlier released schedule, the choice filling for round 3 can be done till October 14, 2025 and the seat allotment result to be published on October 17.
However, with the irregularities in the documents submitted for the round 3 Maharashtra NEET counselling registration, the authority has given a deadline of October 16 to submit the correct documents. Due to this re-verification of documents, it is very likely that the counselling schedule for the Maharashtra NEET round 3 will be revised soon.
